It feels so undercrewed at the moment we could probably lose at least 5 dash 8’s before we even start to have what could look like excessive standby cover! It’s a different story depending on fleet and seat, but essentially right seat jet population leaving in droves, right and left seat turboprop a steady and increasing exodus. Left seat Embraer nobody ever leaves and they have enough now anyway, with jet deliveries offsetting 195 handbacks, but in any case any new joiners can effectively forget ever getting a jet command here within 10y as the seniority maths is compelling. In other words barring company failure or global economic apocalypse I wouldn’t worry about fleet consolidation squeezing jobs right now.
