Message from the Middle East front :

In reply to probably Emirates worst decision to date ( and there’s been a few ) the 2018 pay review .

Never has a profit share been received with so little enthusiasm. There will be those who say ‘ thieves’, those that say ‘ great ‘ and those who say ‘ well it’s better than nothing ‘ but the total apathy remains . Why ? Because a quick cash injection isn’t going to solve the underlying issues .
The company is now desperately short of pilots . So short it is recruiting wannabes who need to be given ‘ATPL’ classes to refresh their total inexperience ( not their fault ) and post their brief training will place a huge strain on line Captains who are struggling with the plethora of company threats and regulations to some dangerous and ridiculous places so EK can make more profit before said wannabe appears next to him/her.

So how can they solve this ? Why are so many looking at China ( and let’s face it if it wasn’t an NASA medical and another ATPL exam, EK wouldn’t have a single pilot left ) .

Money , yes to some extent but rostering and lifestyle is the area that can solve their problem .
If you want pilots to work to the maximum until they call sick or fatigued, do it in blocks . Ie month on month off ( for all not just the ‘ chosen few’) 20/10 or 16/14 like China is already doing . What is the point of one or two days off between fatiguing flights . Pointless .

But , to do this you need plenty of manpower and they don’t have it . Far far from it .

Stop lying , stop the stupid ‘ messages from ‘ and face up to the facts .

You need EXPERIENCED good pilots . You need to spend money to attract them and you need to retain them .

Yes it’s going to be very expensive now you are in such a rut. If salaries and allowances had been raised significantly to get the manpower up , rostering could then become humane and tailored and salaries need not be raised again for many years ( like the last 10 ) thus recovering the initial outlay.

The miserly increase in ‘ overtime ‘ pay ? Why ? Everyone has had enough after their 100 rostered hrs month after month let alone contemplating overtime .

The jump seat policy is ridiculous and simply been hastily thrown in to appease the freighter guys who have been lied too again .

If nothing changes the downward spiral will continue and another crash has to be around the corner .

Very disappointed.
