EAAC and Canadian Western to India

Canadian Western Airlines (W2/CWA) ...on a follow-up to our September 8th news item regarding CWA selling tickets for proposed flights between Vancouver and India starting in November, the Canadian Transportation Agency (CTA) has issued an order dated September 19th stating that CWA has contravened section 59 of the CTA by selling and publicly offering for sale in Canada, an air service for which it does not hold a license issued under the CTA in respect of that service. The CTA therefore has given CWA a "cease and desist" order from selling seats on this proposed air service. The flights, which were to have started on November 5th were to be flown by European Aviation chartered Boeing 747s. However, even if CWA wanted to sub-charter to another foreign carrier, they would still need the required license to operate this service. Air Transat has expressed an interest in operating the weekly flights from Vancouver to India and the CEO of CWA is still determined to get the authority to operate a service and is talking to the CTA about what would be required. For details on the CTA order go to; http://www.cta-otc.gc.ca/rulings-dec...3-A-495_e.html
