Pull your head in Aerocat. Just because you can't fly a 3 degree profile on final without the aid of a VASI on a cavok day doesn't mean the rest of us are IDIOTS because we can. Put em on if you want, but if I can look out the window and fly down to the runway nicely, that doesn't make me or anyone else an idiot.
Sorry dude, I didn't mean to offend. I'm coming from the view of flying a 40T jet doing an approach where PAPIs are available, not using them, and then trying to explain to flight ops why you did a go around. If you're in something small it really doesn't matter, do what you like. If you're flying something bigger and faster filled with passengers then I think you'd be well advised to use every tool available. Where I fly we would be in very hot water if we didn't use PAPIs just because we couldn't be bothered. That doesn't mean we can't fly without them, indeed our network has a number of ports that don't have PAPIs, but if they have them we must use them.
