Not a lot of difference. The engine was lighter and cheaper to maintain, but the real performance benefit while towing came from the finer pitch Hoffman composite prop. The rate of climb was quite improved from the Gypsy with Fairey Reed metal prop. it also descended quicker which is a big benefit for a tug for rapid turnarounds.
