OK, Are there not a set of well established criteria for union pressure to work:
1) Ability to exert commercial pressure on the evil Company/Bosses in a concerted effort
2) Getting the public onside by newsworthy mass action, causes these days have to be televisual
3) No ready alternative source of workforce to substitute for the rioting unwashed
Does anybody think these are possible in GA? To my mind the individual operations are too small and distributed for mass action to be effective. Will a bunch of white shirted guys in ray-bans standing outside the Hangar at Uppercomebackthewest build a media frenzy leading to mass public support? Are there not queues of young bucks who would step into any available seat and damn the consequences?
No, I don't have the answers to the pay/conditions issues in GA, but I am sure unionisation is not it.
