If the European system of (f)ATPLs didn’t exist.
Then you wouldn’t have slave wages.
I’d also like to do away with direct entry captains, cadets and training bonds too.
If the American system were adopted.
Where a ATP is needed to fly in a scheduled service pt 121 operations.
Then they would have to pay a decent living wage to ATPL holders, wIthout being under cut by 250 hour wonder boys.
Current US CRJ/ERJ regional airlines first year wages are mid $60s.
Captains make low to mid $100s.
Non-scheduled service pt 135 operation jobs are plentiful in Bae31, PC12, SD330, BE1900, SA227 types, for hour building with a Commercial Instrument Multi.
Captain jobs are available with a pt 135 letter at 1200 hours.
These pay in the mid $30s range for RHS and high $50s for LHS.
With experience in this market it is possible to by-pass the regionals and go straight to the LCCs.
Restricted ATPs are available with 750 hours if you are ex-military.
1000 hours if you have a bachelors 4 year degree thru an aviation university.
1250 hours if you went thru a pt 141 flight school and have an associates 2 year degree.
Full ATP is at 1500 hours from a pt 61 flight school.
Sounds fair and reasonable to me.
As for the subject of financial advisors. By all means seek their advice, and pay them accordingly for their time.
But I wouldn't buy anything that they were making a commission on selling. I also don’t believe in managed accounts. There is no way you can pay even a 1% fee over a 40 year span and come out ahead. If mistakes are to be made, and they will be. Make sure they are your mistakes. At least you'll know who to sue.
The way I did it, was every time I got paid. I’d pay myself first with an investment. Next came the mortgage. That way, I’d always have a fixed amount to live on each month.
No Lamborghini for me, wouldn't want one. They are for the Kings Road sad prats.
A paid for house and several million will suit me just fine.
I never expected to be so fortunate, and am appreciative for all I’ve attained.
