You get shat on by the a ssholes at the union
You can't afford to pay your dues any more
And you actually wonder what's the point since you've been paying them since your first GA job many moons ago and only really needed the union's help now.
Not a very good time to start thinking about "putting up your hand and doing something about it"
I did at the time, however, look at suing them to return all dues paid by me in the years I had been a member. Mainly because the money could have been better used to put food on the table for the family.
I very much doubt anything has changed and the mismanagement goes on. Sad thing is that, should you really be in an accident or incident, chances are NZ ALPA would leave you to hang.
Not a nice thought to have in the back of your mind when you head off to work
