Just to add to xtypeman's comment, the airport was closed for 24 hours in early January 2007 after some airlines boycotted it following the runway resurfacing problems. This allowed the runway to be grooved properly.
I remember Sky News covered live the landing of the first aircraft after the runway reopened - it was a Continental Boeing 757 from Newark that landed in wet weather amongst a shower of spray.
