The CAE OAA APP Thread
Hi guys,
Intro: I recently applied for CAE Oxford Aviation Academy Amsterdam and passed the tests. I have an EASA class 1 medical so I am basically ready to start flight training. The only problem now is that the bank is not giving out new loans for this flight school anymore. That made me think about other flight schools, for instance the Oxford Aviation Academy (OAA) in Oxford itself or CTC. Obviously i just want a to maximize my chances of getting an airline job (doesn't have to be in Europe, but just a change to fly a commercial airliner at a safe place for a normal pay).
Questions:
- What do you guys think of OAA? Does the flightschool have good contacts with airlines? Any experiences of people who recently completed the ATPL course there? Good job chances?
- One of the pro's which OAA tells is that they can easily allocate graduate students via their 'aviation employment agency' Parc Aviation. Does anyone have experience with this? When I look at their website, i only see jobs for experienced FO/Capt, not for ab initio. Is that right? Otherwise it is not really a valid argument of the fligthschool that they can allocate ab initio's more easy.
Thanks for your replies!

Hi Jasper,
CAE OAA AMS is a wholly owned part of CAE just as OAA in the UK is. A large proportion of the integrated CPL course undertaken in Hoofddorp will be completed at the COAA facilities in Phoenix, AZ and Oxford UK and so in principal, you should not be at an advantage if you commenced training in the UK first. I'm curious that following selection, you are not informed of this as the two schools are part of the same organisation.
Before considering financing however, perhaps you should try to research how few OAA AMS graduates have managed to find employment in recent years, then consider your options.
Good Luck.

The CAE OAA APP First Officer Thread
Hi all,
I thought I would start a thread for past, present and future cadets of OAA, whether whitetail or tagged. I figured this could be an ongoing discussion about the course and life at OAA, whether thats answering questions or sharing experiences. (CTC has one, why can't we?)
I've already passed the assessment and will hopefully book a place on the September intake once my loan application has been approved.

I did of course do a search first and see if there was a similar thread I could revive but felt all of these weren't quite right for one reason or another.

Last post 2013 - Original question was asking for comparisons of OAA and CTC and quickly become a discussion bashing the integrated route.

Last post Oct 2015 - This was the most recent but was again a specific question which didn't generate much discussion, for whatever reason.

Last post Feb 2015 - Again a more recent one, but also a comparison to CTC and didn't gain much legs either.
http://www.pprune.org/professional-p...rth-money.html
Last post Mar 2014 - This was a specific question about the cost of CTC and OAA.
http://www.pprune.org/interviews-job...es-review.html
Last post Feb 2013 - This discussed all three of the flights school and was aimed at recent graduates providing feedback.
My idea of this thread was a general discussion that may have encompassed some of the above threads. I was hoping to start something in the vein of The CTC Wings (Cadets) Thread - Part 2.. I can't be the only alumnus, potential or otherwise, on these forums.

That the largest student population are cadets from Vietnam Airlines, China Southern, Schenzhen, and China Eastern and therefore perhaps their students have forums where they can share experiences and answer questions?
