Are CTC and Oxford aviation worth the money?
Hi
I was wondering what everyone thought with regards to the price of the CTC and OAA integrated courses. They are each around the £90,000 mark and people seem to pay it due to them thinking they will get employed. Is this really the case? You can train with Pan Am in Florida for £60,000 all in. Due to the proposed 'pilot shortage' would this be the better option to save £30,000 and then back myself to find employment after finishing training or would you invest more and go to CTC or OAA even though there is a chance that you may not get a job with either of them anyway.
Any replies will be appreciated
Thank you

Matt,
As you are a new poster, I would recommend taking the time to read through these forums where that question has been raked over time and time again. Although you may think it is a simple question, the complexities and nuances of an ever changing dynamic in both the training and employment markets, mean that is anything but simple.
Yes it is expensive. No there are no guarantees. The attrition rate is enormous. Do your own research and no doubt you will come back with questions focused to the many topics on which there is plenty of varied opinion and comment.

Depends on how much money you have.
Imo, 30k is a lot of money. And you are paying to MAYBE be preselected.
If you are not up to standard... you end up in the same boat with the guys who paid 30-50k less then you.
But, they can still afford to pay for TR (Ryanair?).
There is no "right" or "wrong" answer to your question. Do research, pick on of the roads and hope for the best.
Good luck!

Ask yourself this very important question.
Do you want to spend upwards of £100K to obtain a licence with about 250Hrs.
Then spend the next god knows how long trawling for jobs or even worse shelling out even more more money to some third world operator to Pay to Fly.
Once you have done that you will have a debit of about £100- £130K to repay and you might get a stable job paying £30K a year with limited control over your life.
Do the maths and see what sort of lifestyle comes out.
This used to be a great job but please search the other forums to see that many experienced guys would sell their souls to bail out into some other normal life.
