Next Page

This has happened to me a number of times, but today's instance is very strange

Viewing the Formula 1 topic, on page 415 out of 423.

When I press any of the next pages 416 etc, the ">" or "Last >>", it reloads page 415, showing page 415 selected. The link shown is "https://www.pprune.org/jet-blast/471034-formula-1-a-418.html" etc.

When this normally occurs to me there is only one next page - to have 8 next pages that don't show is very strange.

This occurs for me on Edge, Firefox & Chrome

It's now stuck on page 418 - saying there are 422 pages in all. (hover over 419)

  • Be sure your style chooser (lower left corner) says PPRuNe NG
  • Be sure your Message Editor Interface is set to Enhanced Interface - Full CKEditor Editing (usercp, edit options)
  • Clear cache
  • Try changing your Number of Posts to Show Per Page to 10 and then back to Default (usercp, edit options)

Tried all of these, still no good.

How many posts are there in the F1 thread?

As of now 09:22 on 2nd Sep, the last page I can see is 419, and the post # 8363 at 08:30 2nd Sep

The last page link is showing it is for posts 8521 to 8550 - I cannot believe that just under 200 posts have been made in the last hour.

This is a longstanding issue with pprune and I guess it won't be getting changed anytime soon. I might guess that it is caused by incorrectly accounting (not at all:-) for deleted posts. All long threads seem to suffer from this. I just don't worry about it.

The only practical problem, which may be related, is that the post numbers change as posts are deleted (in some threads the moderators delete quite a few posts) and so they cannot be relied upon for references. The "(permalink)" link at the top right of a post seems to work fine and I would suggest that it should be used when referring to posts.

You are not missing any posts. It's just a pagination issue.

I agree. I agree.I agree.

Edit: (I don't agree three times, it's just that one "I agree" is too short a message:-)

Question ... Why can't I immediately read the last page of the Grumpty Old Men thread ? When I select that thread it opens on the first page, and selecting Last does nothing but start at the beginning again. I have just scrolled through 39 pages, which took time that I am not prepared to repeat. Presumably not something in any Settings file as it is only that one thread that is affected.

'tis a puzzlement, said Alice.

Mods. Are we under hacking attack? I cannot refresh to see anything past 1 March and post #560 on page 28. This has been going for several hours.

Cheers guys. It’s actually working here on the mobile right now 😅 thank goodness!

In thanks, a comment made on Japanese news today regarding Ukrainian requests to the Chinese for mediation. They know each other quite well as the Liaoning, the first Chinese aircraft carrier, came from the Ukraine.
Perhaps they could ask for it back.
