No doubt special people to include on Chinese people files. I took a bet before the airshow that the Chinese and probably the Russians would be there hoovering up as much technical intel that they could. I won my self bet.
I will take a second bet that there was a bunch gathering up all the brochures and flyers that they could in the Chalets.
Maybe ASIO and the AFAP should have had a closed chat with these gents.
But then again their pics would have been sent back by wire to Beijing before they left the show.
How would I go taking detail aircraft pics at a Chinese airshow? It would not happen and me to walk away.
The Russians? They still have not paid their fuel bill from an Avalon twenty years ago but their agents would be doing the same as the Chinese gents.

There’s more documentaries, information and pictures available on the internet than anything you’ll ever get with a zoom lens from an airshow.

It's a different world, isn't it? I mean, they've screwed up so much on so many fronts, but they have got it right with GA.

If AOPA (USA) are to believed, I don't think that's come easy. It appears to me it's taken significant advocacy from GA pilots in Congress all the way down, plus full-time staffers at AOPA over many decades, for them to get where they are now.

We let the ball drop years ago.. and if recent master-planning kerfuffles are any indication, the only time we wake up is when a bomb gets dropped.

Correct. The US Congress legislated BasicMed, over the top of the FAA. The FAA and other NAA’s, like CASA, all have their own version of Avmed leaches on the pilot population. Leaches don’t let go of their victims voluntarily.

Whilst I enjoyed the flying, even if there were big gaps in the program, I really wonder why there is music put on the PA when there is some commentary - at times the music was so loud you could not hear what was been said ???? Its not a rock concert !!

Google Duncan Fenn Phographer. Level of photographic detail would make a Chinese intel gatherer (and I have seen them in action serval times) blush.

I could not believe they were playing Lynyrd Skynard Free Bird Friday night.
was waiting for Buddy, Otis, John, Patsy, Richie, Stevie Ray, Randy, Glen, the Big Bopper etc.to be played.

That gizmo plonked on the belly area of the F22 looks exactly like the webcam bolted onto my hangar. Who knew? I’m guessing a few self-tapping screws and voila: F22 webcam.

The question is was the Jetstar crew waiting for the fast half of “free bird” for their takeoff roll, couldn’t have been more perfectly timed

Maybe...but if it is, it'll be a US Defence-approved non-Chinese-made version in Special Black Radar Reflective Coating (SBRRC) accompanied by a pile of cybersecurity certification paperwork as long as your arm ...and cost at least 5 times as much as the one on your hangar.

The F22 did some really impressive low level passes on the day, but I had no idea they were that low!

On a more serious note, it’s a radar reflector

Well I'll be jiggered.

From the electric interweb:
Stealth aircraft, such as the F-22 Raptor or the F-35 Lightning II 5th generation jets are equipped with Luneburg (or Luneberg) lenses: radar reflectors used to make the LO (Low Observable) aircraft (consciously) visible to radars. These devices are installed on the aircraft on the ground are used whenever the aircraft don’t need to evade the radars: during ferry flights when the aircraft use also the transponder in a cooperative way with the ATC (Air Traffic Control) agencies; during training or operative missions that do not require stealthiness; or, more importantly, when the aircraft operate close to the enemy whose ground or flying radars, intelligence gathering sensors.

That is amazing. Look at the size of the aircraft and it needs that little tennis ball to be seen by radar.
insane.
