I was in Riga last week for stage one - sim check lasting about 30 - 40 minutes, 50 ATPL questions in 50 minutes followed by short interview. They said if successful stage two will be in two to three weeks !!
I have an ATPL with 5000tt and some turboprop experience, not on the F50. Obviously i have some info on the company but i will be grateful for more either by post or PM. What do you guys flying the F50 think of the aircraft and what are you views on the company?

Got word by email yesterday,
Stage 1 - end of Oct
Stage 2 - early Nov
Successful application and awaiting course start dates for "beginning of year 2009"
Things happened very quickly at early stages - but had to wait 6 weeks after physco tests.............I guess that I was "borderline"
Anyway, worth the wait
Lol

more than 3 weeks after stage 1 and still no results
being honest I don't really understand why it takes so long
stage 1 should be simple to define - either you pass, or you don't
anyone here has any idea how it works in airBaltic
Have a nice weekend

airBaltic Management Plan to Buy Out SAS Shares in AirlineRiga 18.12.2008
Management at the Latvian national airline airBaltic have decided to buy out shares in the airline that are currently owned by SAS AB.
The president and CEO of airBaltic, Bertolt Flick: "Even in this difficult economic climate, the management believes in the company's future and has decided to buy the shares which currently belong to SAS AB.'
Closing of the transaction will be on January 31.
airBaltic is pleased to confirm that it will continue its commercial cooperation with SAS AB.
I think this will effect the recruitment for the next few months, last info was they were only recruiting for a hold pool, and the F50 bond was now 5 years.
Good Luck!!

Don't think so.
BT is leaving VNO partly due to VNO airport's pricing policy, partly due to lack of profit. In the end, it's a political pressure exercised from BT. Who will bring visitors to the European Culture Capital of 2009? Hmm.
Route network out of VNO has been reduced to a minimum, only 1 x F50 and 1 x B737 remaining. Both VNO MCC and VNO administration is closing down. CAs are made redundant, those who are not are offered positions in RIX. F/Os are offered positions in RIX. The same goes for VNO captains, working some three weeks in a row out of RIX before they have a home stay in VNO.
All according to a BT employee in VNO who I had the pleasure of visiting last week. Though BT officially has, as always, difficulties admitting publicly what they are up to and what is the future of their VNO base.

I heard yesterday, that flyLAL (not flyLAL charters) lost its AOC ? So at this moment, there are no carriers besides BT, who has homebase in VNO? Weird, why BT should close VNO operations, as there are not any more other competition left?
