Unfortunately, one death report. That of a fire fighter.

And the video of the evac is here! Aside of wasting time to film and wasting even more time to take the luggage, the pax filmed this on vertical...

But anyways, look at how the evac really is!!! Seriously, if I saw the pax standing there taking their stuff instead of running, I'd f*ing jump and see ya later! What a bunch of idiots!.. The crew risking being burned to death, waiting for those morons to take their 5$ t-shirts and fake watches!

Bah...

Incredible.

This video should be shown in emergency training classes. The difference between theory as taught in the classroom and cabin simulator with colleagues that know what they are doing and practice as seen here is breathtaking.

I think the R&N thread is more general worldwide discussion, whereas the ME thread is more for folk working in the region... No objections from me having both running.

It was the first story on the six o'clock news on all 3 major TV channels here in Australia tonight, complete with video of the evacuation. If EGT thinks he can 'unhappen' the accident, he is very much mistaken, and I would suggest being sitting in his little office in EGHQ for too long.

The investigation will be interesting since there was a local in the left seat.
Combined flight time of the cockpit crew was 7000 hrs.
Interesting times ahead since fatigue is bound to come up if not by HH GCAA agency then by us on prune.

Fatigue, TW landings, reduced wake separation, warning letter culture, ****** up quality of life, poor salaries and allowances, ****** up meals on board for cockpit crew ( cabin crew still manage their way around the options in cabin ) all these are the inconvenient truth about EK

I would add that once the EVAC switch is pushed/activated then all overhead bins would be locked

Would you leave your passport, logbooks and licenses and evacuate ? I would atleast throw it off the cockpit window befor evac.

Apparently, First Hull loss and a major blow to EK ! I remember, The guy in the recruitment during road show boasted 'We never had an accident !'

is there any truth to whats being reported. They said they where going around after the tower queried about the gear? Fatigue is a sneaky thing, very glad to hear everyone got out ok, so sad about the fire fighter..
