Baggage is allowed on the Metro, within size restrictions... not that I've ever seen them being enforced....

Alcohol is not allowed to be carried, however if it is discreetly carried (i.e put in the suitcase) then I doubt it would be an issue. Ditto with taxis.

For perspective, from Sydney airport, Muslim drivers were refusing to take persons with duty free alcohol in their taxis (they still might for all I know). Let's not forget the minuses from where we came.

Interesting. Could one refuse to be driven by a muslim taxi driver because said person refused to carry people with alcohol? What would the law in Oz do about that?

Roy,

I'd expect they would issue a $ 250 "on-the-spot" fine, then go about making more rules and laws which they could use to issue more "OTS fines...and so on so forth.

School fees on the rise again....

I thought it should come to the top again....

I just heard from two different school registrars that they are both waiting on KHDA to approve fee rises for the 2014/15 academic school year. The fee rise in both cases was quoted at over 20% with junior school classes now starting from around 46,000AED per year PLUS PLUS......

AFAIK there has been no talk of an increase in the EK education benefits for the coming year.
