I am sure Flydubai will change that equation very soon. At-least in the region.

Maybe I was just lucky but I sent an email to them and got a response within just a few days. They asked me for some scanned copy items which I sent them. Expect to interview in October. I am current on the NG as a Capt and have flown the 200/700/800/. TT is in excess of 12,000 with 7,000 jet. B737 time is 3,000 plus.

Hello Tidabisa and others,

I applied 2 weeks ago and not a single reply yet.

So it looks like of course they are looking for the Capt's initially.

(I have applied as a F/O +4000 hrs TT 3000+ on 737's and a current type

rating...so maybe my chances are limited

As mentioned before they are trying to get as many capts as possible before

Fly dubai does ?????!!!

Anyone in my similar position???

Thanks

Someone I know interviewed with OmanAir a few months ago. He said that they are "very very slow" in processing your paperwork and are very laid back. So it is not unusual not get a response for a while. It is my understanding that while they are hiring they are in no big rush to have people on the property. Several Omani's I understand are leaving GulfAir to join and so I am sure they are getting processed first.

FlyDubai is only hiring Capts right now. If you are not a Capt on the NG they will not be interested in talking to you right now. In time they will
start looking at F/O's. In fact mainly even with Capts they want TRi/TRE's and people with training background. New hire Capts will fly from both seats when they first start up.

You will not receive a reply for at least the next three weeks.
It is the month of Ramadan which will finish around the end of September - not much gets done during Ramadan.
Then you have a week of the Eid holiday at the end where everywhere is closed.
Then about two weeks or more to get through the backlog of paperwork.

To give you an example...
My paperwork for a position here is being rushed through the system, as I type this.
They started to rush it through last.....April.
Things roll very slowly here in Oman. Be patient.

Not exactly true either . Friend of mine heard from Michelle yesterday having sent his CV only last week , all during Ramadan . Flt Ops are taking more interest in recruitment at the moment but there seems to be some difficulty in getting some emails through , be patient , try again until you get a reply.

Advanced COMPASS testing

Does anyone know if it is possible to:

1. Prepare for the COMPASS test in any way.

2. Take it privately.

3. Improve your scores if you are able to take it more than once?

The only aptitude test I took was the AFOQT--Air Force Officer's Qualifying Test many years ago.

Its seems many of the ME airlines are requiring this COMPASS test.

Thanks

Has Oman Air received any CRJ's yet? I have 2700TT and am a current captain on the CRJ 200/700/900 series and am wondering if I'd be considered for anything with Oman Air - especially if they have CRJ's on property, direct entry Captain would be nice.

Email received regarding available dates of Oct 24th-30th. Asked to pick 2 days and they would get back to me. Interview in DXB. You have to buy your own ticket to get there and are reimbursed if selected and only if/when you join.

Considering that the Oman Air and FlyDubai terms and conditions seem fairly similar, the main difference being Muscat vs Dubai, what would be more desirable? Question aimed mainly at sandpit veterans.

Buying your own ticket to DXB?

Oman air sim interview

Hi everyone,
I had the sim interview with oman air last august. The sim session was straight forward. We met at the hotel lobby 1,5 hour before sim session and went together to the sim with the examiner. 4 applicants were there including me. the examiner will brief what will be exercised in the sim and exactly went as briefed.
The examiner will seat on the right and ask you to do visual approach circuit and land with normal engine. take off again with engine failure after V1, you have to identify the failure and ask for the checklist apropriate for the same. then make an approach (could be ILS or VOR) and Go-around N-1. Radar vector to do another approach and land. If he is satisfied he will tell you on the post briefing that you pass the test.
I hope this will help a little. good luck
