The B744/P&W Autostart procedure does not require running a clock. It is necessary for the EGT to rise by 20 seconds of fuel on, and for the idle rpm to be reached by 2 minutes. I have always assumed that the Autostart, by providing protection against Hung Start, Wet Start and Hot Start, will ensure the limitations are met, and the EEC has access to the ship's clock.
I was recently criticised by an IP for not running the clock, and was unable to prove my point that it is not necessary. His opinion was that the EEC might have its own schedule.
Does anyone have any information that would support/correct my assumptions?
