My friend has been invited for interview but it turns out she is 5' 1.5" . Is there any point turning up in order to be sent home ?

The minimum height is 5ft 2 inches. You will be measured shoes off, flat floor and i am sure they have seen every trick in the book to bypass the minimum.

When i joined there was a girl who was measured, then had her interview, was called back to be measured again as they thought she was borderline and had really backcombed her hair to give her height, she was then asked to leave as she didnt meet the minimum. I didnt think she looked that surprised and was just taking the chance to see how strict they would be on the day.

Ba recruit those who have the right to work in the Eu.

KiKI,
Interviews are only in the UK at Heathrow unless BA are recruiting international crew, such as Japanese, Brazilian, Indian etc. These crew are just employed to work on specific routes and if recruiting BA advertise in the National press of these countries.

BA take any nationality to work on Mixed Fleet as long as you have the right to work in the European Union and you would have to make your own way ( and pay yourself) to the UK for your interview.

Hope that helps.

Vfrom5B

They are very strict about the 5'2''
You also have to do a reach test which involves standing with your feet flat on the ground and reaching a pole and twisting your hand around it. Even some who are 5'2'' are failing because of this reach test.

Hi,

I've been given a chance in LHR for an assessment, but I heard many times about BA's conditions, inhuman wage or other disappointing things I don't remember honestly.

I'd first like to know what's exactly bidding for a flight ?
Does it mean you request for example a LHR HND LHR journey and then they choose if they give ot to you or not isn't it ? I guess there must be kind of points or anything else to bid with ?

Plus, I read on BA's site crew in mixed fleet are (at the moment) in LHR, but is it possible to be based in LGW or somewhere else ?

Last, could someone tell me honestly how much a FA earn/month including flight hours or anything else I don't think about ?

Thank you, because I'd like to know as I live in Paris, how it is to work for BA, as I should pay 250 pounds to get to LHR for the assessment...

Thank you guys !

Smile enquiry regards CSM position

Hi everybody,
have few qestions- if anybody attended CSM interview would really appreciate their feedback- the style of interview, types of questions asked.
One more question- although I am European but I have never worked in EU, and dont hold National Insurance which in application says that I must present upon attending interview.I tried to get in touch and get clarification but so far- nothing.

thanks

In the assessment day you will have an individual interview, usually you and two interviewers, you will receive a presentation telling you a bit about Mixed Fleet and the job and you will do a group interview, where you and other candidates are asked to discuss a situation between you and the selectors watch to view how you interact with each others.

Also you may be asked to take part in a role play scenario where the selectors pretend to be passengers or other crew members and see how you deal with a particular situation. The CSM interview has a number of different role play situations.

From what I have heard Mixed fleet main crew are taking home anything from £1100 to £1400, sometimes less and sometimes more but around that figure.

Yes they have been recruiting at LGW for Single Fleet Gatwick and the terms and conditions for new joiners at LGW are similar to Mixed Fleet, however recruitment at LGW has now closed for the time being. Recruitment for Mixed Fleet will reopen soon as the fleet is due to grow consistently until at least February 2012 when the growth will slow down a bit but still continue at a slower pace.

Hope that helps.

Height restrictions

Hi all,

Not sure if anyone can help or not. I have an assesment day with BA in a couple of weeks and I am taller than what I am meant to be (I am 6'4). Will I be disqualified for this? I am aware that I need to fit inside a jump seat, which I don't feel will be a problem!

Can anyone give me any comments on this please?

Thanks

Ladies and Gentlemen,

the truth is everyones reasons are different for joining, I joined MF as always wanted to work for BA, have years of experience, but joined as cc, read the T&C, knew what i was going in for, however as with all flying jobs your basic is very low, but you sort of hang on in the knowledge that you will make it up on flight pay. Alas not happening at the moment, Routes are good, but only nightstops (on most l/h routes at present).

since I started have had £700, £800 £990, the first two Is always going to be lower, due to traning and getting on the system, the last one was dissapointing (however all this inc using host anf after tax).

Next month hope it will be better ? do not know yet until i get paid.

Think it will sort itself out in time, but as for me cannot afford to stay, which is a real shame, but at least I gave it a go.

Crew are great, and this myth (at least i think it is) about Inner conflict I have not seen any, evryone I have said hello to or smiled at have resopned, I think regardless of whichever airline you work for, you will alwyas get some negativity.

All in all if its your dream follow it, if it does not work for you at least you had a go.

Everyone reads their T&C when they recieve their contracts, but cannot really guage what the real pay will be until they get in, as I sated if I stay, in six moths I may be raking it in, however cannot afford to at present,if you can then give it a go.

All in all have enjoyed it shame have to go, but thats life.x

Ps sorry for hijacking that last post re ad day, new on here.

Don't know if this will help you but years ago I had the same situation and I had to go to a Job Centre in the U.K for an interview with them, had to give a U.K address (a relatives in fact as I didn't have one!!) and then they sent me a National Insurance card...I was just honest in the interview and told them I had a job offer from a British airline.

Hey I'm originally from Germany (lived 18 years there), I'm right now in the US to attend a College doing a degree in Accounting, does BA require a Degree in something special or do they just want to see that you have a Degree in any Science subject?

auto 1977,

Yes, they are situations that, as a SCCM, you could come across any day, like problem with a passengers meal or in flight entertainment and also a situation involving giving feedback to another crew member. Obviously they are looking to find out how you deal with and solve problems on board the aircraft. As well as dealing with the scenarios that they set you, you will need examples of actual situations and how you personally dealt with them for your 1;2 interview with the selectors.

Pegaze,

Anyone can apply as long as you have the right to live and work in the EU and can speak good English. You would however need to live in the UK as commuting to France on the new Mixed Fleet roster would be very hard.

A degree is not a requirement for BA cabin crew positions.

I have an assessment day booked in June and live in France, south of Toulouse - I also know of many airline personnel who live here in SW France and they are able to get to work. I guess there is a bit more travelling to do, but in theory it would be quicker to get to Heathrow from where I live than driving from where I did in England.

At the end of the day, it is about organising your life and leaving earlier (or a day earlier) for your flight if you need to. If I am successful at the assessment, I do realise that I would have to make the effort to arrange my life accordingly.

Don't be put off if you feel you can make that committment.

Expat Torte,

Unlike our WW fleet, this new Mixed Fleet will be doing a mixture of day trips, standbys and long haul trips. You could get a run of 7 one day trips in a row or 4 days of standby in a row and this would mean you would need to have friends or family to stay with in the UK or pay for Bed and breakfast or hotel accomodation.

Although it may be possible to live abroad and commute, I think in reality you would end up spending a considerable number of nights in the UK, it is not at all like our WW Fleet who only do long-haul trips and always trigger days off after each trip.

Hope that helps.

Same here I would like to give CC a go to get the experience of just beeing a CC. I know the pay is not great. The idea of meeting people and jetting here and there appeals to me.

Do current CC feel sick and uneasy while in flight?

Any experiences, and how it is work as a CC, please share thanks
