I'd be tempted to say those were PBY's with a sluice ramp at the left of the photo.

Flew nearby in 1984, I think it's Eagle Mountain Lake in Texas?

Massive explosion at an ammo dump 'somewhere in England'. After the Battle have covered it using this picture but I can't remember where , somewhere like Wratting Common?

sabre dog you are the Main Man. A pal of mine lived at Metfield Hall during the war. He grew up with P-47s, P51s and B-24s just outside his bedroom window! Lucky sod.

(I was tempted to say Lympne but the reservoir and dwellings are wrong)

Apologies for not providing some hints/clues earlier than this.
The airfield is no longer extant, but was well known in the 1930s. It is now part of a housing estate and Country Park ,and still retains a link to it's aviation past.
Not Lympne, Rearsby or Worthy Down,Chevvron.
U.K. is correct,Simon.
