Qantas Exodus II
EK roadshow reporting that they've received EOI/ application from a QF A380 captain. I have nothing more in terms of information and suspect (but don't know) that it may have been a bit more of an EOI for a direct entry command even though I know that EK aren't currently taking DEC. That said, if they change their stance, the flood gates could open in a big way and QF may find themselves not just a little short but a lot short. It won't come down to LWOP, guys and gals will pull the pin if a DEC is on the cards.
That'd be awesome if QF started bleeding Captains like that to EK because they offer more of a 'future'. :roll eyes:
PS: I wasn't actually at the road show so no smart alec comments about me hunting for another gig!

Heard too that the recent 330 S/O slots advertised are being sought by quite senior guys off the 400 so they get a 330 endo then head off to other companies, presumably the desert.
Funny how the 380 doesn't have enough crew and now the 330 apparently.
If guys start leaving in bigger numbers, it changes the whole dynamic of where the company will find itself re numbers. With lwop for three years in effect and resignations maybe increasing in rate the typical knee jerk reaction will be to employ more pilots but it'll be on a b scale......

Probably be one of the guys who constantly talks about the joys of the seniority system and how we must all wait our turn.....

gotta love the level of arrogance from this group. Like EK gives a rats about QF drivers. Just because your A QAntas Pilot does not "ENTITLE" you to ANYTHING. A380/CApt/FO/SO or toilet cleaner...get in line...I too was at a recent EK roadshow where there was a whole group of QF pilots whinging about how they are losing there jobs (because of Jetstar of course ) and how EK needed to fall to there knees and beg these guys to go out there....They even had the nerve to suggest that EK hiring policy needed to be "re evaluated" when it comes to recruiting QF pilots.....I know this post will probably gain a little "criticism" but i sit and read this stuff and on occasion post my humble opinion. Get over the "god like complex people. There are many well deserving and qualified FO's at EK that ARE ENTITLED before any of US are..................

Oh FFS. This thread is NOT about QF drivers expecting to be Captains in EK. It's simply that even A380 Captains- who are pretty freaking senior- are considering going elsewhere.
Further, it was only a few months ago that EK needed a 'letter of resignation' from your previous employer before they'd take you on. Funnily enough, things have now changed and it appears that Qantas drivers are allowed to go on LWOP. My information is that EK only accept crew on LWOP from a couple of operators. It appears that QF pilots actually do get treated slightly differently to everyone else up there? It appears EK simply changed their mind. I wonder why? Could it be they were happy to get the crews up there to have a look around and hopefully stay and it happened to fix an issue for them?
Whether EK eventually go for DEC is something entirely up to them. They have taken them in the past, they may well again at some stage in the future. Certainly one of my EK contacts reckons that despite assurances that they won't go for DECs, the rapid rate of expansion may mean that they have to consider a limited number for the short to medium term. That may or may not work out well for former QF Captains but that really wasn't what this thread was about in the first instance. Personally, if you want to discuss whether EK will or won't take DECs, take it to the ME forum and leave this thread to discuss where the QF drivers are going- as the name of the thread suggests. Land of idiocy is right!

Another side of the coin. Lets say EK really wanted to put the screws on the idiot little green man at the bottom of the garden?
They need pilots - masses of them - and (regardless of your attitude to Qf drivers) Qantas has them. And they are pissed off.
Be a nice strategic move to take them all and watch Qf squirm, wouldn't it?
Ek want more than QF could provide in any case, but interesting scenario!!

Why would they bother V-JET? QF has become utterly irrelevant internationally. Emirates doesn't have to do anything as QF has done all the wok itself.
So from a fleet of:
18 A330
14 A380
26 747
25 767
to:
14 A380
9 747
You can probably afford to let a few guys go...

I am not sure if this info is elsewhere on Prune but I've heard from a number of sources that QF are loosing 1 pilot a day. The guys I've spoken to down the line have not wanted special treatment from EK or any other airline ............. they just want out!
DARK.LORD Six years ago I may have agreed with you, but things have changed!

Said it on the previous thread, say it again here: QF need to lose (please, please note the spelling of that word, thank you) 1 pilot a day for six months. That's just to avoid an excess. That's 1 pilot leaving on LWOP, resigning or retiring, every day for six months.

The story I heard a while ago from someone in the know, is that in the last 12months QF have lost 125 pilots. A few have been retirements, but most are young FO's that see no future at QF.
I also heard of a couple of SO's doing their King Air endorsements so they could do some work in Afghanistan. Not sure if they were on LWOP or resigning.
