has anyone any info on the panel interview ?Nope. But On Track Aviation (http://www.ontrackaviation.com) run a prep course to prepare you for the interview. Go to their website and click on "FIC Training Day". No experience of this particular course, but I did my FIC with On Track and highly recommend them.

The interview was abandoned last year and has been replaced by a one day selection procedure at a CAA Flight Test Centre.

You will be required to give a pre-fight brief; a groundschool brief and answer questions on typical PPL subjects. In addition you will be expected to know the format of a FI Course and describe how you would conduct such a course.

Thanks for the replies .....

Sounds like the groundschool part of a typical FI renewal now ? (+ some knowledge on FI course ...).

Are these CAFU examiners or 'CAA nominated' ....?

CAFU ceased to exist about 12 years ago!

Chairman from CAA usually FIE, CAA Staff FE and one Industry FIE
