Haha, My parents keep telling me that, North Korea isn't strictly a school trip but I'd personally class it as a valuable educational experience. I think real life experiences are just as important as good grades.

I'm still desperate for news on EK starting KTM! Can't find a source anywhere!

3rd daily BHX

Seljuk22 - you seem to be very informed about developments in the ever growing EK network. I hope you can help me out with this question - why are EK offering First Class on the new 3rd daily BHX from 1st Aug, only to then go back to a two class 77W from 1st January. To me this doesn't make any sense but there must be a reason for it, I was wondering if you had any ideas? Thanks in advance!

Why does one of the Rome (FCO) (EK095/096) flights go from an A380 to a B77W in February 2015 and back to an A380 in February 2016?

It is being swapped with Manchester from February but when extra aircraft are delivered it will get the aircraft back. The reason Manchester
needs the aircraft is due to very high loads on all flights (92% at present)
Reports that the 3rd Manchester may also go A380 within a year

EK has an excellent dedicated lounge at BHX, don't see a problem.

I see they got the 4th. rotation into JNB, so they now have 7 daily into ZA.
4 x JNB
2 x CPT
1 x DUR

Really impressive, then again there's only 3 South African airports they can operate to and they have regional connections in SA (I think) + it's a large market... Good for EK

On another note, EK does have a lot of African presence but is there any expansion on the horizon? I think there are still a lot of possible destinations in Africa, especially if they join them up like Lusaka/Harare.

BHX - I don't know why but I guess:
1. A two-class B77W with more than 400 seats would be too much capacity as a new flight, therefore 3-class.
2. EK do not have any free 2-class B77W so they launched it with a 3-class B77W at first and then switch to 2-class B77W once available.

South Africa:
Since 26th October JNB is served 4 daily (all 3-class B77W), also CPT double daily with 3-class B77W and DUR (still) daily B77W (2-class).
DUR is doing very well. Rumours about a second daily but also QR could launch DUR.

FCO-MAN:
A380 will switch from FCO to MAN next Sunday. FCO will be double daily A380 once again from February 2016.
Still a lot of A380 on order so be pacient - more or less all European airports, which have the facility, will be served with A380 sooner or later.

Africa:
Due to Ebola outbreak and Boko Haram in Nigeria the expansion on Western Africa expansion slows down. Maputo, Kinshasa, Kigali are possible in the near future.

Dubai-Kinshasa-Brazzavile-Kinshasa-Dubai and Dubai-Kigali-Bujumbura-Kigali-Dubai seem like options to me. I also agree with Maputo. What about Mombasa? Kilimanjaro? or Mombasa/Kilimanjaro tag? Windhoek, Gaborone, Antananarivo, Libreville, Lome, Juba... There's so many!

Obviously Freetown, Monrovia, Bamako etc. Are all off limits at the minute.

EK77WNCL - Instead of adding to your Emirates 'bucket list' try and look at the wider picture. Look at why they don't operate to some of these places and work out why. Last post you suggested Harare, there is a reason for it so work it out for yourself.

At MAN the First and Business passengers use the same lounge with no problems.

Certainly at DXB they have separate First and Business lounges - anywhere else?

I am looking at the wider picture, particularly the one where EK gets more flights to Asia (China) and expands in Africa and connects the two through a convenient hub, especially convenient for African cities/countries who's national airlines can't profitably fly to China despite the trade.

I agree with Crewmeal

Your not looking at the bigger picture especially one of world politics and war zones!

Take Juba for example, your really living in a fantasy world, you need to read your previous posts on this site as your obviously an aviation enthusiast taking things to a different level as to your so called 'bucket lists'.

I think you need to try to and understand things more before you post such ridiculous suggestions!

Well of course you agree I should expect no less.

I'll thank you not to insult my intelligence, I am fully aware of the global situation, I am also aware that Emirates still serve plenty of dangerous countries round the world: Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya

And plenty of "unstable" countries around the world: Sudan, Nigeria, Pakistan. Some may even include Egypt, Lebanon, Jordan, Zimbabwe, Angola and Iran (or more) on this list although I personally wouldn't.

Yes they are cities that I would "like" to see Emirates see, but they are also cities that Emirates could very well serve, and where an Emirates service would be welcomed. I by no means was suggesting imminent service to any of the destinations except perhaps Kinshasa, Windhoek, Gaborone and Maputo.

EK77WNCL :
Whatever routes you may consider 'desirable' for your own purposes or reasons, an airline like EK, which is not a national flag carrier with a duty to serve a specific market, will look only at being able to make a profit out of a route. This does not equate, although there is a correlation, to filling the aircraft, that's the easy part.
Filling it profitably is the real challenge, and there are many reasons why this is so.

I'll thank you not to insult my intelligence,
Nobody is insulting your intelligence, what is questioned is your sense of the commercial reality of airline operations and profitability. You might want to read one or two of the classic books on the subject, such as Airline Marketing and Management by Stephen Shaw, or Flying Off Course, by Rigas Doganis (the man who f---ed up a couple of airlines!).

To answer your question about KTM, there are no EK flights to KTM loaded in the GDSs other than those operated by FZ/Fly Dubai.

as the Frozen song says "let it go.... let it go"

I really appreciate your enthusiasm but you are out of your depth.
This isn't a school homework assignment. If it was you would get D-.
Routes aren't launched on the basis of "Emirates could very well serve" or "service would be welcomed."
Take a breather, listen instead of talking, this is a marathon not a sprint.

out.
Damn your fast typing Capetonian!
