Could be they can't justify the service after September, although it is alarming to see them cutting it at the start and not the end of the month. Perhaps advanced bookings have not been strong enough to justify the second service continuing so long after the summer holiday season?

Are they also dropping a few flights per week like they did last year? I think from about August on wards they reduced it to 11 flights per week, dropping the 109 randomly until the end of October.

It's actually the start of October it stops, as opposed to what is normally the end of October. There are also various days throughout the summer when the later flight is non op. Passenger demand has never been an issue so I can only imagine APD is obviously an ongoing problem hitting yields. I also think they took too long to get the later flight on sale to the general public this year losing out on potential pax who would have already made other travel plans or booked onto the earlier flight.
Plus the new UA are pretty ruthless when it comes to cost cutting measures and EDI isn't immune, it's just part of an ongoing trend which includes GLA going to 6x weekly from the start of September instead of end of October, CPH being axed completely, FCO suspended atleast for winter...

Yep it's a recent change in one of their last schedule updates. No Wednesday flight from start of September.

I see some of the flybe EDI-EMA flights are now on sale. It looks like the schedule may require an extra airframe to be based as there are now 7 departures before 0715. Unless they are planning on making space by cutting one of the other departures?

Has anyone heard what the new owners will do with airport (airside or not) during the first year of ownership? Personally a pair of wide body stands is a must as well as the PCN caper.

Gordon Dewar returns to EDI

GIP has officially taken over EDI from BAA with effect from today - 1st June.

It's been announced that former MD Gordon Dewar is also set to return as the airport's new CEO, replacing Jim O'Sullivan later this summer.
