Colin Rogers - Super Turbulent G-APWP

Does anyone know what happened to Colin. He worked with my father at BAe in Stevenage some years ago, and his name recently cropped up in conversation. According to G_INFO he still owns the Turbulent.

Best Regards

John

Colin Rogers

Hi John,
I happen to have Colin sitting here in my office at Pooleys Elstree, I am the Editor for the flight guide and he blesses me with his presence every now and then....and to grab a coffee.
Any message for him which I can pass on?
The answer to your question is yes, he still has the Turbulent.
He is asking who was your father?

Cheers
Mike Simpson

Sorry for the delay in replying Mike. My father was Alf Lawson. I met Colin on a few occasions. Including once at Dunstable Downs where he took us up in an Auster for a flight around the local area. Dad passed away on the 31st of March at the ripe old age of 91after brave battle with Parkinson's disease.

The first time I saw 'PWP' was at an airshow in the 1960s where it shared the sky with (I think) the Cosmic Wind. I always wondered what happened to the 'Super' Turbulent. I seem to remember Dad telling me Colin moved on to a Bolkow Junior but, it all seems like a long time ago now. I was tempted to build a large scale model of 'PWP' but, couldn't find any detailed pictures of the modifications apart from, the wire brush on the tail skid :o)

I hope Colin is well, please pass on my regards.

Hi Mike,
When Colin drops in for another coffee remind him that Roy has been looking for him. Our first meeting goes back to 1966 at Jess Wilsons farm strip at Baldock and Jeff Parishs strip where Colin kept APWP, I was flying Turbulent G-AJCP. We had lots of fun flying around the hedge rows at ??? feet AGL . A chance meeting at Dunstable gliding club on the 21-04-68 Colin casualy asked would I like to fly APWP, I was in the cockpit before he could change his mind. My log book tells me 14:15 to 14:45, a 30 minute flight I will aways remember. Only my Taylor Titch G-BARN gives me the same buzz!!
Best Regards,
Roy

The Turbulent G-APWP together with G-AVZI Bolkow 208 have both appeared for sale, after long term storage, on a well known aircraft sales website following the sad death of the owner.
Whilst the Bolkow looks to be only fit for spares use, the Turbulent looks in remarkable good condition considering the length of time it has been stored.

G-APWP

Following the death of my father Colin earlier this year the aircraft was offered for sale and withdrawn soon afterwards for legal reasons. Enquiries re the aircraft are not welcome at this particularly difficult time .
There will be an internment of Colin's ashes in St Albans in the near future, if any of his friends or colleagues would like to be informed when I have confirmed a date please message me here.
