Great to see lots of good ol' boys still sitting up and taking notice (along with their Cocoa)

Does anyone remember a story of Fred testing his outboard motor, clamped to the kitchen table in Bramis House - I never did know it that was truth or rumour.

Anyone remember the 'Wrong' brothers, building their pedal-powered helicopter in the back of the hangar?

I expect everyone will remember some motorsport events that may (or may not) have taken place after dark. D**** P***** having to explain to parents the unfortunate accident to their camper!!!

Remember - if it's not fun, you're doing it wrong.

Just found this thread.
Some of my BH memories-1975, meet Alan Bramson at Surrey & Kent for my AFI test which I pass. Later, I visit all the clubs armed with my new AFI rating looking for a part-time job. Kevin Hills at ATC gives me a weekend job instructing on Rallyes (and I'll be forever grateful to him). Some names I remember from ATC - Eddie Asquith, John Casselden, John Quayle, Colin Corp.
1976 pass IMC instructor test with Hector Taylor (at E. Mids).
1977 I pass my multi-engined GFT (on G-ARED) with Garry Studd after instruction over two days from Dr Dickie Stanhope.
1982 and now armed with a CPL, John Dow Smith gives me a weekend instructing job at BHSF; this lasted less than a year due to 'a clash of personalities'! Some names from BHSF - Rod Boath, Gerry Nock, Lee Roach, Jerry Andrews, Peter Dallosso (he was CFI and I think ex-Laker DC10). I got my FIC approval whilst at BHSF and took a T67 to Shoreham for my flight test with a reputedly gay BAC1-11 captain who was the examiner. I have a still-vivid memory of said examiner placing his hand on my thigh and saying 'now show me a loop, my dear chap'!
From 1986 until very recently I was gainfully employed as an airline pilot.
And finally, Rhys Perraton checked me out in B121 G-AXHM (Pup) in Oct 1972 at Denham - THIRTY FIVE years ago!

Eddie Asquith

Old thread, but Eddie Asquith was a great instructor who got me through the PPL.

Would be great to hear from him, and the other Air Touring crew, again.

Hi there, just found your post. I last saw Keith in Geneva. I think he was flying a private jet. Right up his street I'd have thought. Roger Brown was a Captain with BA via B. CAL as was I eventually, though via Dan-Air so definitely second class. Me, bitter, surely not. I haven't heard hide nor hair of the others, though Peter Higgs ended up with BA I think. Who are you? Drop me a line.

Hiya Rhys, I finally stopped flying the jets and will be keeping my hand in with the Tiger Club on the Moth if I ever get the time off work! Do quite a bit of training & examining in the sim (737 & 75/76) plus training TRIs and TREs etc. Presently in Botswana on a recurring consultancy mission and sailing my old boat round the Med in between.
Good to see a bunch of the old names being bandied about, I arranged to meet Mick a few months ago but he went to the wrong pub!! I will try again next time back in Blighty.
Rgds to old mates, Jim

Barrie Lawless Rip

I have sad news that Barrie passed away in France on 12 July 2010. He fought so courageously over the past two years and now he can finally stop.

He will be cremated this Friday (16 July 2010) at 15.30 at Niort, close to where he lived in France with his wife, Carolyn. Something will be arranged later in the UK (not sure when) so that his friends and family can get together and give him a good send-off.

Please raise a glass of your best and remember him as the humorous, cheeky, loving man that he was.

Fairflight

Whilst I never worked for them, I used to handle their flights when I ran Air Reps (UK) at Luton Airport. Terrible with names, but I'm sure I'd recognise some crew if I saw them again.

I just found this site. Not a pilot but... Mandy, Nikki and myself Anne Searles flew as flight attendants with Fairflight around 1980. Some names I remember, Ian Faggetter, Gary Studd, Rhys Perraton, Keith Faulkner, Andy Cherry-Downes , Ed Murton, Eddie Asquith. Dave Newcomb was in ops. Anyone out there remember me? It would be fantastic to hear from you. [email protected]
