Question Separation from special use airspace

Question for ATC I suppose, though input from flyers welcome.

Do ATC provide separation with what we would call "restricted airspace" or is this a pilot responsibility over there? I'm particularly interested in what happens outside radar coverage.

I'm an Australian ATC, soon to encounter low-level Class E airspace...

During IFR flight, yes.
VFR with traffic advisories, generally yes.
VFR without traffic advisories, you're on your own.
Suggest a GPS with a current database installed.
Sometimes TFR's are issued on short notice...BEWARE. Check notams carefully.
Happy flying...
