Training with Employment Authorization Document (EAD)

I’m trying to find out if I can do the ATP-CTP and Airbus Type rating and ATP check with the Employment Authorization Document (EAD) as I am currently in the process of getting my green card.

I’ve reached out to 3 different organizations and have received 3 different answers, a YES, NO and MAYBE.

I’ve also reached out to the AFSP (Alien Flight Student Program) but haven’t yet received a response.

Does anyone have experience in this matter and are able to point me in the right direction?

Yes, you should absolutely be able to do it. I did the exact same a couple of years ago. ATP- CTP course and B737 Type Rating and FAA checkride. You don’t need any visa or GC for that. Just make sure you get a TSA clearance for the Sim.

You should be able to do it without trouble, just apply to your school and to your TSA authorization. I got my ATP-CTP + TR with tourist visa + TSA authorization

Did you submit EB-2/NIW application along with adjustment of status? If you did, may I ask how long it took for your EAD/AP to be approved?
