How is that a bitch against Delta ???, he was told to go around and then told it was a joke !!!, if he didn't go around and there was subsequently a problem the pilot would get the blame.

you could say: SAY AGAIN
you could go around.
But this is what I would have done: I would go around. After I found out it was a "JOKE" I would say:
Tower, Delta 123, request supervisor work this flight, advise when supervisor is on frequency, OVER.
Delta anal? Well, better to be anal retentive than anal expulsive I say.

Seriously? You're trying to blame this on Delta? If I'm on short final and the controller and the controller tells me "Go around" I'm going to start to go around. And once you've started a go around at 1000 ft on final, you're not stabilized. I'd bet long odds that Delta's SOP's wouldn't allow them to pull the power back, and pitch back down to continue their approach.
Sorry, there is just no way to defend a tower controller issuing "Joke" go-around instructions to a plane at 1000 ft final.
