Aircraft off runway at JFK

Anyone know any more about this?

Plane skids off runway at JFK Airport, planes temporarily canceled due to weather - NY Daily News

Doesn't sound too bad if they're planning to reopen that quickly!

sadly, those journalists never give the whole story.

IT would be one thing if the plane had landed, tried to stop on the runway, but slid off the end.

AND quite another if the plane had made a normal stop on the runway and then slid off while exiting the runway onto a taxiway.

Runways can be pretty good braking but its the turnoff that will get you.

The article does mention freezing precip, and there may be more to it.

Fully agree.

Sky News now reporting that it skidded off a taxiway and not the runway.

only closed in my opinion due to the airports fire section having to attend and if more than a certain percentage (can't remember off the top of my head) of the crew and tenders attend to try and put the nose back on the tarmac. Like when LHR 'closed' when the Etihad B787 self combusted (handily right next to one of the fire sections!)

Glad all ok though

Be careful in the modern age with updated newslinks as they may be corrected AFTER the original posting. The link is the same but the words have changed since posting.

BUT like I said, if you make a great landing in difficult conditions, DO NOT BLOW IT by taxiing too fast!

A Delta CRJ-200 from YYZ, apparently

35 souls on board; no word on injuries.
