UK CAA EASA ATPL Skills Test In the US
I wonder if anyone has any incite as it seems very difficult to get an answer from the UK CAA.
I have recently complete the UK CAA theory exams.
I have an FAA EMB135 Type with 1800 in type and 5600TT & FAA ATP.
I need to complete the UKCAA IR, Type and ATPL Skills check-ride for the issue of the EASA ATPL.
Flight Safety HOU tell me under a full service agreement they are able to do this as well as my FAA recurrents.
My understanding is that I need:
UKCAA certified Sim
UKCAA TRE - IR and Type Conversion observation
UKCAA Examiner ATPL Observation (TRE can be authorised be UKCAA)
Does this sound right and has anyone been authorised by the UKCAA to do this and/or previously completed the EASA ATPL conversion in the US.

You are absolutely correct. I have been through the same process a few months ago. Just note that for the issuance of a first JAA/EASA license, it used to be mandatory for the skill test to be observed by a UK CAA inspector. This requirement is no longer, however they still can decide to do so. Your TRE must inform the UK CAA that he will be conducting a skill test for the issuance of an ATPL/type-rating issuance and that it will be for a conversion from an FAA ATPL. Normally, the UK CAA will decide not to attend the skill test. Once the skill test is done you need to submit all the paperwork to the UK CAA office in Gatwick with all you original logbooks. They will keep them and you can expect them to be returned together with your new license within a few weeks. Also, note that you will need a current EASA medical for the license to be issued.

Hello Everybody,
I am almost finished with my theory exams (3 to go). CL-65 FAA type rated with ATP. I am slowly trying to gather information on getting the check-ride done. Can anyone recommend/suggest a place? I understand that Flight Safety does offer a program?

I have met several people at the US Regionals who have tried to do this.
Most had given up as the market improved.
I congratulate you for getting this far.
I'd be interested to see how it all pans out for you.
Especially where you find employment.
Did you self certify for the written exams and take the tests in Orlando.
Or did you go thru a shortened study program like offered by Gulf Coast?
How hard was it to schedule around your work?
Did you buy a program like Bristol Ground School?
How long did it take you to do?
How hard did you find them?
Difficult or just tricky?
Did you learn anything new that you found interesting, or just pointless trivia?
Did you find the practice test question much help?
What are your career goals?
Where would you like to end up, and why?
I wish you luck and happiness.
