Flight Deck crew discount when purchasing airline ticket

I am ferrying an aircraft from South Africa to the US. When I get there, I would like to fly from Washington to New York with a local airline. I was told that if I show up at the ticket desk in my uniform with my airline pass, I should be able to get a good discount. Is this true?

Do you work for an airline that has Interline travel agreements with other airlines? Most airlines have ZED (Zonal Employee Discount) agreements with other carriers which provide discounted space-available travel to other airline employees. Your company probably has a travel department which can give you the details. Who do you fly for?
