Continental 1559 bird-strike/engine failure
WASHINGTON - A plane was forced to emergency land at Dulles International Airport Monday morning after reporting engine trouble.
Continental flight 1559, a Boeing 737-800, took off from Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport, and experienced left engine failure after striking a bird, says Continental spokesperson Macky Osorio.
There are no reported injuries among the 44 passengers on the flight, originally bound for Houston, Osorio says. They will take a different flight Monday to get to Houston.
Continental 1559 was supposed to take off at 7:24 a.m. but was delayed 18 minutes.

To add to the excitement, a strong line of severe storms, with an in-effect tornado watch, is just off to the west, heading east at a rapid click, so if this had happened later today it might have been that Dulles would have been off-limits, while Reagan could have been operational. An engine out return to Reagan is surely a much more challenging situation than dropping in to Dulles.
Anyway didn't happen, so "well done to the crew".

Obviously this thread is neither "news" or "rumour"????
1) In-flight, engine failures are not news any more?
2) T w i t t e r reports of aircraft crashing are not rumours?
But pages of waffle about mis-conduct within Air India is.....
