Type Rating (Single Pilot VFR & Multi Pilot IFR
I came across this particular scenario:
A FAA ATP pilot arrives for a single pilot type rating(VFR) and Multi pilot IFR rating...(same aircraft)Part 91
He never flew in a multi pilot role before ( little or no concept of CRM and LOFT)...THEN PROCEEDS TO BUST THE CHECKRIDE due to crew failing to apply correct multi crew concept & procedures...
Does he have grounds for redress because he never received PRIOR CRM/loft training?
Should he have even taken the check?

None,
He has the responsibility to turn up for the check trained and qualified.
My question would be who put him up for the check?? If a company then maybe something there, but otherwise none.

The FAA publishes their "Practical Test Standards" for checkrides. You can think of them as a checklist of tasks to perform on a checkride. CRM is there along with steep turns and stalls.
If the pilot does not know and has not been trained in using a co-pilot, they shouldn't have have taken the checkride in my opinion.
