How to get time off from work?

Hey Guys,

Any suggestions to get time off from my job to go overseas to do some contract flying for a year or two?

The contract jobs have been drying up over the past couple of months. I would look long and hard at it. The economy is a world-wide problem. Corporate and airlines are parking planes world-wide. Even Asia seems to be slowing a bit. Do your research before you jump ship.

If you really want to go work for another company, then do what I usually do. Quit.

Not many employers are interested in retaining you if you're going to go elsewhere to work for someone else.

Be very cautious about accepting another job right now, if you already have a good one. If you don't already have a good one, then quit and take the better deal.

I might add, if you have a job, even a bad one, now might not be the time to change gigs
