helicopters in LA

Was just in LA for the first time on the weekend.
Couldnt get over the number of choppers flying around. there was 1 that flew over the hollywood hills almost constantly. Is that a police chopper.
Just wondering if anyone could shed some light on it. Also a chopper constantly flying around Disneyland.

Most likely you were seeing police helicopters, or news gathering helicopters, or both.

News gathering flights are, at the moment, still prohibited in the LA area after September 11th.

I was at Van Nuys last weekend, and there are LOADS of choppers all over LA - if you saw a H300 being flown badly, may well have been me !

Nr Fairy, thanks. I have not flown in the States since November 1999 when we moved to Italy. I used to fly police aircraft in S. California and I did not factor in the new rules after 9/11.
