Post AA Flight 41

Does anyone have any details about an incident on January 3 aboard American Airlines Flight 41 from O'Hare to San Diego. Soon after reaching cruising altitude a loud bang was heard. The captain informed passengers they had to make an emergency landing back at O'Hare. The plane had to circle for 2 hours burning fuel. The crew had a hard time keeping the nose of the aircraft level as the plane kept oscillation up and down. Just before attempting to land, the captain informed passengers he was not sure if he could land the plane safely. The landing was uneventful and there were no injuries. This story was relayed to me from a friend who was on the flight.

Didn't make it to the FAA's weekly list either.
A mite of embellishment perhaps ? Can't imagine any Capt. announcing he doesn't know whether or not he can land the thing over the PA !
