Hello there,

I am thinking of booking a Trans-Atlantic flight with US Airways and was just wondering if anyone knows if the airline allows flight deck visits?? Or are the airlines over here in the States as stringent as their UK counterparts??

I will be booking the ticket regardless, but am unsure whether or not it's worth asking the crew.

Did you hear of an event that occurred on September 11 2001? Do you really think you are going to be allowed into the flight deck on a US carrier?
There's a saying from my son's favorite movie "The Wizard of Oz"...

It would be nice to have an idea who my crew would be, is there a US Airways crew forum??

I believe i will be flying on an A320 and A330-300, and on my return an A330-300 and A321.

US airlines haven't allowed flight deck visits in many years, since long before Sept. 11.

Weasil....reading jetsetj,s original post...it didnt indicate whether the flight deck visit was on the ground,in the air,at the gate.....as a Captain of this airline he is welcome to a flight deck visit whilst parked at the gate,before the flight or after the flight.......no other time.......Im more than happy to give these visits...that is my choice....95% of the time it for kids and parked at the gate,before the flight....photo,s etc.......weasil ....if you want a flightdeck tour....(during the non-prohibited times) your more than welcome....bring your camera and you can borrow my hat.....if you want a hostie to sit on your lap...I reckon Ican arrange that also..........


Jetset...my advice....if you want to see the flight deck...try to get a hold of the Capt.or F/O .....AND JUST ASK!!!....most of us are very accommodating..

However, you must be a US Airways pilot to access the specific US Airways forum. But, there are many US Airways pilots in the general area of the site.

I am a furloughed US Airways pilot -- used to fly the 767 PHL-LGW, and to our other cities in Europe. Now I work for JetBlue. Everyone above is correct -- absolutely impossible to visit the flight deck in flight.

Look at your reservation and see on which type of aircraft you are booked (767 or A330). I think they only use the A330 any more on LGW flights, which is good because it's a much nicer ride than the 767. If you are on a 767, try to change to a flight served by the A330.

The Airbus has much more comfortable seats, better amenities (as it may be), and individual TVs for each passenger.

I have just returned from my trip. I flew on the Airbus A319/A321 and A330.

One word sums up US Airways - FANTASTIC!! If anyone from British Airways is reading this - shame on you, you could learn a lot from such a quality airline!!!

The Captain on the out bound leg let me visit the flight deck while we were waiting at Philadelphia!!

I am so impressed with the airline that i have cancelled my BA flight and am booking a US Airways ticket!!

I would love to work for the airline in the future so any words of wisdom from you guys or any contact details would be grately appreciated:-)
