SWA Rosters

Just a quick question regarding rosters at SWA. I am just about to start at Ryanair in Ireland (Clone of SWA) and they have a policy of being home every night, with no night stops scheduled at all! (Apart from unforseen issues). Is this the same as SWA? What would be a typical roster at SWA? At Ryanair, they are now offering 5 days ON 4 days OFF. Is this also similar to SWA?

Also, Is there a company policy where you need to reside within say 120 mins of the airport or can you commute to your place of work?? I.e, could one live in SW Florida, yet commute to MCO?

Thanks for your help

Andy

Almost all overnights at SWA are at hotels, not in base. The typical schedule (over 80% of lines) are 3 days ON 4 days OFF. There are some 4 days ON 3 day OFF mixed with 3 day ON 4 day OFF lines. There are ZERO 5 day work periods. You can live anywhere you want with generous commuter rules but if on reserve callout must be within 2 hours of the airport, so many commuters stay at a crash pad or hotel if they are on reserve. We have pilots at SWA who literally live everywhere, including out of the country.

Andy,
Aside from the fact that both airlines operate airplanes the similarity stops there. SWA takes care of their employees and offers excellent compensation. Ryan does everything on the cheap whereas SWA focuses more on efficiency than cheapness.
