For those of you that have worked overseas....

Hello, I have recently been thinking about making the move to europe or else where, and I was wondering if anybody has done this or would have some words on there own about this. All of my ratings are FAA and I have a type rating in the CRJ-200. I do know the european certification is diffrent and can be costly not to mention this Frozen ATPL test. I have heard that you can do most of this in Florida, and I have also heard that if you find a N registered aircraft like over in europe, all you would need is FAA ratings, is this true? As for citizenship and visa issues, I'am slowly figuring this is quite difficult, maybe I should just marry! In any event I'm new to this board and thanks for the info (If any) also I speak italian if that can help over in europe (So parlare lingua italiano dimi qualcosa se avate sapere)

Europe

There are several strands in Biz Av in regard to your questions.

However in general you would need a work permit....a wedding is a good option, and perhaps more cost efficient....

Your FAA ATP and type would entitle you to "casual" work in Europe on an aircraft passing thru, but not a based aircraft...reference employment laws. There are Americans working in Europe, but not many.

A JAA ATP, is a very expensive and in my opinion a total farce.....

Your italian is a bonus but will not swing anything...

Until the USA permits EU pilots freedom to work there, the EU will not permit you to work here, until the playing field levels out.

Windy.
