Only if you’re based in Leeds. Find yourself in Luton and you’ll be on some of the newest A321s.

Having experienced both offerings - you're having a laugh insinuating J2 'staff travel' is better than EZY. Night and day.

But I'm guessing J2 is all you know :ugh:

You clearly missed my final, quite simple, two word sentence. My post is quite clearly just factual rather than insinuating anything. Clearly. But you are free to infer whatever you like.

You're guess is wrong and my previous airline had exceptional ST, even better than Easyjet's offering which is pants in comparison. Enjoy your little voucher :ok:

Yes, that has been mentioned already but a 1000 pound voucher doesn't compare to more than 50% off a 6 grand holiday...

Are you seriously criticising probably the most recognisable advert from an airline in recent times???

What a crock, Jet2 have NEVER had any 737-400’s. They have a mix of some older “pre-loved” B737 aeroplanes along with some that were delivered brand new only a few years ago as well as a fleet of brand spanking new Airbus321neos

And to add to that: none of the remaining 7 737-300's have steam gauges, some of the last built classics by Boeing and younger than some of the NG's in the fleet actually.

And as said, they're all Leeds based and will be phased out somewhere next year.

Mr Good Cat 1st November 2025 02:06

I’m not aware of any aircraft in history that had steam-driven gauges.

Did they come with whistles too, for when approaching the gate?

Thats a marked improvement on the staff travel offering when I worked for Jet2. Glad to see terms and conditions are improving. 👍

The lady I know never used the tokens, because the holidays are far more expensive than the opposition, or DIY unpackaged.

So had Jet2 Interview the people who run the day were really nice, put you at ease but the vibe at my EasyJet interview was so more upbeat and positive you can tell the pilots are not happy at Jet2. So I asked direct questions like I did at EasyJet especially around Jet2 new advert for DEC hires the £180k for 550/600hrs 40 in summer 30 in winter. I said the numbers don't add up. The Interview said from what he understands it your 'Total Package' Salary, FDSA, Sector Pay, Bonus, Pension Contributions, Medical Cover, LOL which equals £180k as for the hours they think Jet2 have basically took all Captains in company inc TRI/TREs that fly 1in45 and come up with that figure for hours which is misleading. I was told that in summer you can be realistically on 70+hrs per month and winter 40hrs which is basically what I had been told by speaking to current skippers in Jet2 atm (Base Dependent)

Staff Travel, Getting better they have now introduced reduced fares, can only be booked 28 days before and you have to travel with the party, I asked how much as EasyJet shown you on the day how much there flights are for Staff, Jet2 was a lot more expensive. Discounted holidays was basically up to 50% off but that is only on the Hotel Cost and is not guaranteed!! The Flights you will pay Jet2 full price for the flight minus your £200 voucher. So getting £3000 off a £6000k holiday which I think someone mentions here will not happen So I think EasyJet's £1000 voucher plus they are cheaper than Jet2 for Package Holidays win that too.

I think both are great companies offering different things and if I get offered a position at Jet2 it will be hard to pick one. Clearly Package wise EasyJet wins but for me money is not the issue so it will come down to Base I Think! Thanks for All your input

There speaks a wise man. As one who is working for one of the two airlines in question I am sure you’ll be fine at either. Good luck sir and thank you for an adult approach to the discussion.

Have been checking Jet2 staff travel a few times, it is always more expensive than confirmed ticket I can find online for the same flight.

Chesty Morgan 6th November 2025 19:17

Well I've just checked for TFS return flight and it was 91 quid as opposed to 300+ full fare.

I just checked and you can get a confirmed return full fare flight with Ryanair for £41 MAN-TFS or Easy for £61 Jet2 as low as £76 return. So sounds like the staff rate still the highest

Chesty Morgan 7th November 2025 07:41

I just did the same and with a small bag, 20kg baggage and reserved seat it's over £150 on Ryanair. So actually more expensive if you compare like for like deals.

Edit; and in fact more expensive than Jet2 flight only on the same dates and choosing the most expensive of the 3 flights offered that day.

Come on mate, we both know the pricing chart for staff travel doesn't mean you'll actually get the ticket. Send in the form, get it approved by staff travel at that rate and for the full return, and then comment.

I appreciate it isn't as bad as everyone makes out at Jet2, but it also isn't as good as you are making out.

Chesty Morgan 7th November 2025 11:13

Hey I'm just dealing with the facts, I'm not trying to make it seem anything. Not being a regular user of staff travel I wouldn't be able to calculate the odds of getting a ticket at the advertised price. But that is what the price was for that flight.

And that's using the new app not whatever form it used to be.

737driver1 7th November 2025 14:07

Just for info, at the EasyJet interview they shown us the cheapest ticket for them was a flat rate of £17 which was standby to £38 for confirmed with discounts on luggage seats food hotels for staff etc. and their friends and family with the added bonus of you not having to travel. So from what was said on the company presentation road tripping around Europe with staff travel at EasyJet is very cheap ! Be nice to hear from a EasyJet pilots to confirm.

there is no price difference between standby and confirmed staff tickets. The system will release a confirmed ticket depending on booking patterns. If you book a standby ticket there is a good chance it will change to confirmed before departure. Crew can also use the spare cabin jumpseat when on a standby ticket.

UK domestic is £17 a sector. Europe is £23 outbound (return depends on that countries tax).

you can also just book the public fare via staff travel and benefit from £5 luggage, which is actually a decent saving on its own. We also get speedy boarding and large cabin baggage (whole party) plus fast track security and free seat selection (staff member only).

Fair enough. That is the process, you are correct. But it is in no way comparable to staff travel at any other airline where there is a real system in place, not manually handled, and where they get automatic acceptance and confirmation.

The new app is just a form underneath a shiny new exterior. Sends to the same inbox with the same data, with the same confirmation email for submitting to your own work address. Soon followed by a reason for being declined... all the same as before.

I know many who were declined due to high load factors, only to book the flight on the public website, and board the plane to see only 140-150 max on board with loads of empty seats. Or others offered one way, but not return, quite often with the public price for the one-way being cheaper than the "staff travel" one-way rate.

I’d be very surprised if that was factual as the required load factors are published and transparent. Personally I have used staff travel for flights on numerous occasions, less so this last few years due to load factors. I have used it twice this year, once at kids 1/2 term in Feb and the flight was totally full and once out of season in June and again the load factor was in excess of 90%.

I agree that it’s not a great system but too many write it off without actually trying.
