Thanks.
Does anybody know how much the BHD based guys are taking home after U.K. Tax, please?
Thanks

I was told by them at Pilor Careers Live for an FO its £55,000 including flight pay before tax. Using UK.gov tax calculator it comes out as £42,461. I know that Loganair FOs on the ATR72 are paid around £50k before tax including flight pay.

Also, I went for an assessment with Emerald earlier this month, unfortunately wasn't successful (But instead was successful with easyJet!). In their Interview its a pretty casual chat, but be warned as I fell victim to the false sense of security haha! They ask you pretty extensive knowlage on the ATR. But begins as "what do you know about the ATR". Know the basics like Hotel mode, what each Hydraulic systems power, how the Prop brake sorta works, max cruise alt, max fuel (5tn). Stuff like that.

HR questions are pretty standard tell me about yourself, Ground school grade, job history, etc. They ask questions based off your CV.

As for the sim assessment it's pretty straight forward. The XJ sim at Simtech isn;t great. Quite light on the controls if youre used to any normal 737 sim. Just a manual departure, VOR track, quick play with autopilot for a radar vectored ILS to land. ILS is on Raw data too. One interview question is as well "If you could do the sim again, what would you do differently"

Hope this helps!

I didn't bother in the end, in my very brief dealings with HR I found them to be amateurish and unprofessional. I also managed to get in touch with some current guys there and they all advised to steer well clear.

not sure who told you this, but as an FO within the company, its the nicest place I have worked in my career, everyone is really nice, any issues at all, you can speak to someone instantly face to face or only a phone call away, very nice working environment, and days are not long at all. You will have people complain in every company no matter how good the term and conditions, i know a couple here that would complain if they were offered 500k per year still. All said and done, its a really nice atmosphere here and people like it

Me too!

Only thing I've heard interview wise with Emerald airlines specifically is an interview question is to tell them a technical fact about the ATR that you find interesting.

Avoid ice at all costs ?

I presume you are aware that of the pilots from the old stobart franchise, practically everybody who could did abandoned Emerald, the majority before 18 months of the place starting up. Most have gone to Ryanair, and all had to join as FOs.

Yes, the captains and even LTCs of years left Emerald, to go and be Ryanair first officers, among 22 yr olds. If that doesn't tell you the story, then nothing will.

This isn't the standard moaning battalion (that every operator has), this was mass exodus.

HR were very disrespectful and unprofessional in my own dealings with them. From talking to others, they had much the same experience at the time.

The head of HR head came from the Irish health service (HSE), an organisation famous for corruption and incompetence. Out of nowhere she is head of HR for an airline ...??

Emerald

Ones could argue they're leaving not cause it's terrible place to work but salary and perspectives are unbeatable elsewhere flying 320 and 737.

One could argue that, however one conversation with any one of them will tell you that isnt what caused them to leave. You don't leave your LTC post of 10+ yrs to go be an ULCC first officer because you feel like it.

It doesn't take much googling to figure out how bad things are.

To be fair though it doesn’t matter if you’ve done 10 years as an ATR TRE you are still going to have to bite the bullet and be an FO if you want to move to a mid size jet

I know a ATR TRI cpt, he recently became RYR cpt. Idk where you guys are getting ATR experience is not relevant. Flying skills are pretty demanding in order to fly ATR( no autothrottle + conditional levers).

Direct or time as FO first ? You are missing the point - we’ve had this Willy waving about flying skills before . It’s nothing to do with that . Most insurers will specify a min hrs / on a min weight aircraft to be allowed to be P1

That TRI would have have had other relevant jet experience that RYR accepted. Go check the requirements for yourself.

Regarding the other bit about an ATR being demanding enough to allow a TP captain go left seat jet .. the naivety is astounding.

Yes some have gone, but a lot are still there and plan on staying, ryanair gave a pretty good offer, and no captain without a type rating on the 737 can hop into the left seat straight away, it was a 12 month in the right seat offer first then command, much better that anywhere else. but a lot of past people from stobart still there to this day. people have actually come back from ryanair in the past few months that only left 12 months ago.

look at aer lingus mainline, guys with thousands of hours jet time, having to join as an FO and spend prob 7 years on average to start from scratch again, ryanair was a no brainer while the offers were good, money is very good on offer too, and no more direct entry going forward for years now they announced.
Coming back to Emerald, the days are very nice and nothing like the long days on jets etc, everybody gets on well with everyone, know all the guys including ground crew, office crew etc, bigger salary jobs will obviously attract people elsewhere, but quality of life is much nicer here imo.
