They’ll always give you at least two hours but occasionally they ask if you can get there quicker. You’re not at all obliged to though. |
Lots of ‘go now’ callouts. In fact, you’ll rarely get more than 2hrs notice as they like to ‘maintain operational flexibility’. Often there will be something planned well in advance, but you’ll be the last to know. |
Does anyone have any info on non-rated DEC start dates? Been swimming in the hold pool for a few months now, they were very keen to get the assessment done asap and all seems to have stalled now. Are they struggling with training capacity or just waiting to see how many type rated DECs they can get in the door?

PMI base FO
Hi. Been considering the the chance to join jet2 PMI base (FO NTR). Can someone help me figuring out what to expect there? Basically which salary (net) to expect and time/requirements for captain? And once you get the upgrade, is there a change of base? Many thanks.

Dave - If you want time at home then the 75% contract would be an ideal starter, the format is:
Jan & Feb - Off completely. Mar to May - 50% = 10 working days per month Jun to Sep - 100% Oct to Dec - 50 % |

Hello everyone,
Does anyone know when you could apply for jet2 again if unsuccessful the first time for the same NTR FO position. I suppose reapplying with different email/account is big no no. Thanks in advance |
I think it’s 6 months. |
Hi all, im seeking some advice from Jet2 Pilots also. Currently a BA Captain who is looking to leave. I am very interested in Jet2 for a host of reasons... regional base etc.... My only concern is being able to pay for my family to live during the quieter months.. Input from current skippers would be most welcome! With the new pay deal what sort of take home pay do you expect winter/summer? This paydeal I understand is an ‘interim’ deal.. Is there likely to be further increases over the next 12 months? Has there been any decisions on the profit share? Although I assume there are limited opportunities and/or desire to do so, but what is the availability and frequency of working days off? I appreciate there are variables to each of these questions... Thanks very much |
Frozen,
No doubt you will get a barracking from the anti Jet2'ers that lurk on here for you even considering moving from BA to "lowly" Jet2, however you certainly won't be the first or the last to make such a move. Your take home pay will depend on a multitude of things, not only the number of hours you work, but how much you elect to drop into your pension. The basic Captains salary is now circa £106k, on top of that you will earn sector pay which has just had a large increase in value, and duty pay, pre deductions you'll be around £10k per month (ish) The interim pay deal, is, as it says, interim, there will be another increase in April which is when our annual increase generally happens. Working days off is definitely possible, there aren't many, if any in the winter as there are a surplus of crew, however the busy summer usually sees a requirement to work on days off if you choose to do so. |
As an ex jet 2 er, your fellow workforce are the best in the business, rosters based on 2018 loco ops,pay is fine,2 sector days, great. Also back to home almost every day, Did I mention your colleagues in the flight deck to the crew in the cabin, the best!and of course engineering and ground crew But if you have the unfortunate deployment to be confronted with the curry club, Be prepared to be faced with the renowned owners wrath,or maybe lucky enough to be confronted with the two comedians in charge of career development on the major fleet Tommy “cooper “ and “ Ali” Gee! Pure joy? But your fellow crews,Fantastic!!!! |
There she blows
An excellent post, never met Ali or Tommy but I hear dealing with Ali is better than Tommy........ Be glad to be out of the place tbh 6% just doesn’t beat a stable roster pattern and knowing what you’ll be doing, I agree a duty day is a duty day but here it’s a potential any duty in the 24hr day right up until you actually turn up to fly. The training backlog at Ryan at least means I’ll take the money and put my feet up for the winter leaving the trainers to fly before dodging next summers ‘roster’. 2020 I hear, now that really is a comedy one liner. |

Thanks Johnny! not out of touch at all, in fact in constant communication with good guys in the training department at j2, I am afraid my comments must stand as these characters are doing more damage to the moral and development of crew, than if they were on an easy or Ryan payroll! maybe you are too |
There she blows If you were ‘in touch’ then you would know that ‘Tommy’ left his position almost a year ago! Just saying! |
Hahahahaha, there she blows proved he’s really actually very out of touch. I didn’t like to state the reason, but Oceanic has done the job for me. |
Curry club culture, there we have both comedy and intimidation, keep up the ha ha ha boys |
There she blows No comedy or intimidation, and I’m definitely not in any curry club, just merely pointing out the facts. Unfortunately there are so many negative comments on here posted by people like yourself, who had a different experience of Jet2 than most, that sometimes you just have to point out the errors. Jet2 is not perfect but show me any airline that is? On overall balance, for me personally, it’s a good place to work with Ts and Cs continually improving (if rather slowly at times). |
