The tcx pilots getting called first is completely fair. A hold pool is not a first in first served situation. Assuming they dip their toes in the pool and are called up straight away is because they have the skills and experience J2 need now. They will not call a low timer over a seasoned Captain. That is fair. (Unless specifically thats what they need) If someone has similar/same experience ratings etc as another and is called after a shorter time thats where you complain. Just because you filled in the application sooner than another does not make you a better candidate. that being said jason I know its horrible waiting, hang in there. This is all complete speculation tbh at the moment. |
From my point of view, I think this is unfair with people we are at the pool.... By the same method above it is also true to say that if the situation is felt to be that unfair - maybe to be congruent with ones-self it may be better to remove the application from the hold pool and move your efforts to another employer?. Because this is a business there should never be any loyalty to one company alone i would suggest (which may sound harsh). Why? of course we have to remember that in any downturn there is no reciprocal feeling from an employer - they will shed employees as quickly as possible without any feeling of remorse. |
Jet2
From the others Jet2 forum here
A321’s for next summer Ground crew for Jet2 have just received an internal communication which mentions 7x A321’s for next year based at BHX and MAN. I’m sure there will be a statement soon from the company 7 Airbus 321 initially..... And more comming maybe |

Still no information (email) regarding the pool since first week of September..... Don’t take it personally. If you’re not rated on B737 or A320 you probably won’t be a priority due to the fact that you’ll take up more capacity in the sim and on line training. Just hang in there and your time will come. Expansion won’t stop for a few years so there’ll be opportunities still. |
Please can someone remind me, didn't the Thomas Cook pilots vote against direct entry commands?
|
Really?
They made that vote before? Well... we have to wait, I know.... but the waiting period without information is the worst thing someone can have.... Time is running Thanks anyway¡¡ |

The question of direct entry commands at Thomas Cook never arose as there were always both sufficient high quality SFOs ready for promotion and training capacity to promote from within, in the required timescale. |
Some companies do them ( mainly in massive expansion ), some don’t.
Obviously any FO/ SFO already in a company will be displeased.....but airlines exist to try and make money, they don’t give a damn about your career path |

Jet2 have always needed to take DEC’s, however promotion from within is always prioritised. Any SFO who has the required experience and has put themselves forward will be given their opportunity before a DEC. |
Not so. I know this is not always the case. |

This comment reminds me of something a nurse said to me once while I was having an injection. It went along the lines of “just a little.....” |
