Another Pilot open day event:

Dissident1 9th November 2025 10:46

Seriously doubt they get many qualified applications. Company on the verge of bankruptcy everyday, a more or less useless type to log hours in and nobody wants to move to Riga or any other of their bases. Too close to the bear. I think a solution for the recruitment team would be to have a few gateways for flight deck so they can start and finish their rotations at home. Can’t be that hard.

Is the "comuting" contract actually comuting? Do the 13 days ON include travel to and from your home? Do they arrange accommodation, wether it's in Riga or at a deployment for one of their ACMI partners?

global2express 9th November 2025 21:15

Yes. Commuting to your base will take place on your day off, while returning home will occur on your duty day. Accommodation will be provided both in Riga and at the ACMI bases.

Since when?
Till a year ago that I left, there was no way to avoid renting in Riga, no accommodation, no transportation, not even free parking at the airport

why would it be possible to return to your home on your last day? Is that in the agreement? No accommodation in Riga, since that’s your base. Obviously they provide accommodation when on the ACMI-bases.

I really doubt that all these are the reality or some ''plan'' that they announce and nothing happens like they usually do

Historically there is a huge gap between what they advertise and what they actually do
That's why I asked you when they started offering commuting roster or accommodation in Riga, profoundly they haven't.
First thing to do when joining is to rent a house in Riga and forget your hometown

AirBaltic is infamous for breaking contracts, interfering with your time off and not providing what has been promised. There’s a reason people leave as soon as possible… Add the ongoing issues with the engines on the A220 and you’ll understand that the job security is zero.

twentyfivehundred220 13th November 2025 06:35

Actually, the commuter contract will be available starting from January 2026. So if you apply now, it is not availble right away, for now on offer is a fix or flex roster. Starting from 2026 a new salary system takes place, you can find that quite precisely on PilotJobs network, bonus of 10K for Captains was paid out yesterday, and here are some benefits explained: https://media.licdn.com/dms/document...ULRr3yR_C5d-3c

Where is the money coming from??

Sooner or later reality will bite them.

Dissident1 7th January 2026 21:09

I’ve never seen a company advertising for pilots in the extent that airbaltic does… I’ve received numerous offers from agencies and invitations directly from the company. Flying A330 so I’m a bit surprised they even bother. But seriously, how do they expect to recruit pilots with their present “deal”..? New offer… !!!!! offer from a !!!!! company and most likely next in line for an autopsy.

Most probably they are just throwing money to these agencies, who knows why, I am not implying anything about the ethics or credibility of companies in former soviet countries
The also Latvian Smartlynx was advertising pilot jobs till the moment that went under

Does anyone know what the chances are of not getting hired at BT when completing your ATPL at ABPA? To me it doesn't make sense that you have to do five steps for the selection in the loan program, but only three for the self-funded track? Because when completing your training through self-funded track, you will still have to do those two tests before being able to join BT?

www.aerotelegraph.com/airlines/muessen-staat-oder-lufthansa-helfen-steigender-kerosinpreis-treibt-air-baltic-in-die/8gq22y1

What is going on at Air Baltic?

Article put through translator: article says because of nearly doubled jetfuel prices Air Baltic is trying to restructure its debt now. The main problem according to the article is a bond with a supposingly interest rate of 14.5% and a value of 380 million Euro and would only be due for payback in 2029. Apparently this bond is currently traded at only 41% of its nominal value. Wow. The financial market does not seem to have a good expectation.

Short term debt increased by 121 million Euro to 474 million Euro, and profit margin in 2025 was -5%.

What strikes me is the restructuring of the debt now while the critical bond is only due in 2029. Why would any investor let go of his high risk premium now or delay the payback of a risky investment?

They lost another 45 millions in 2025, long before the fuel prices rise
I believe they are just using the fuel prices as an excuse for the bankruptcy and the hundred of millions of Latvians taxpayers money that were used to keep this business alive till now
Pure post soviet politician show

patituri 31st March 2026 13:55

They asked today another 150 millions state loan to avoid immediate bust

Better read this thread before investing any money and time in this outfit, there are details about their financial situation which looks pretty bad, most probably they will go bust before you graduate
