Ummm...I think you need to stick a few caveats on that, given that our single post friend may well have a particular individual in mind.. Wouldn't it be fair to say some might gross that sum or more but OTOH some Long Haulers on PP25 with >> 7 years in the LHS gross significantly less, it all depends on individual circumstances/contract type.

Fair comment, though to be fair whilst the question might have been asked by an 'ex' it might also be from a nosey neighbour./curious relative (been there, seen that, etc) . In any event I don't think there's been any harm in pointing out there is no answer ;)

I'm a fairly close match to the profile and I sure as heck get nowhere near the figure previously mentioned.....

I'd like to congratulate Mr Gammon Flaps on his earlier post toward the start of the thread. It really puts into writing my thoughts on what life is like at BA, pros and cons definitely resonate with my experiences here. One of the most accurate posts I've seen on pprune ever.

At least he confirms my figures! Albeit BA have had two pay rises since then.

Still, at least Mr GF's on three times that now.

Hi,

I have applications in with both VS & BA, and am comparing the package just in case I am lucky enough to be successful at both.

I understand VS pension contributions are based on both the salary and fixed flying allowances, i.e. 15% of circa £69k year one. Is this the same at BA, or is it only based on basic salary (£54k)?

Also, am I correct to assume that the duty pay (£3.31 ph on PPJN) is a replacement for fixed allowances down route for sustenance, and therefore shouldn't be part of my salary comparison?

Pension based on basic only but also on PP24, so increases more than your salary each year.

Per hour allowances replaced fixed allowances a few years ago. You can make a lot if you can find cheap places to eat, on the other hand you can spend a fortune in those Copenhagen bars.

Thanks for the replies. Interesting that there is quite a difference in the pension contributions between the two! (First year company contributions, circa £10350 VS vs £6480 BA).
