They say the cost of a type rating is 27500, payable at 5.5/hr, yet the contract is for 5 years.if you fly the max hours in a year you only pay back 24500, are you still liable for the rest.

The cost of the Type is €27,500 and it's paid upfront day 1 by you

Unless there has just been a massive about face of the company and they are now bonding guys which I highly doubt.

I guess it's hard to find NTR DEC who would pay there TR on day 1

For the First Officers, they charge 4.5 Euro/hr every month for training costs (sim ride, courses etc.), maybe you are referring to this (Captain should be 5.5 as you said)

That training deduction is for RECURRENT training only, not the type rating.

Ok guys - anyone knows what the sim consists of for direct entry FO's?

Used to 4 sessions for rated FO's.
NTR pilots require a standard type conversion training.

Could be true, the intel I’m receiving from the few colleagues I have left there, tell me they are running low on TRE/TRI as well...

I got the same phone call and subsequent email canceling my assessment. The reason given was that they are prioritizing the captain courses before the fo.
Not sure if it's bull or not.

Well if you believe the alleged 'crew shortage' stories about Ryanair then it would make perfect sense to prioritise the intake of DEC's.

Look how you guys are being treated even before the interview! Short on Captains for a reason!

donnie, the shortage is not hard to believe; it's the extent of it which is so staggering.

For those worried about being turned away, don't - RYR currently seem to be even more short of FOs than Captains. FOs are easier to source, though, which is why they may be focusing on Capts for now, scooping up all they can before another company gets them. Further, RYR allow two Capts to fly together routinely, if needed, so they can cope better with an FO shortage than a Capt shortage.

pudoc - Is that any worse than so called big carriers holding 100s of wannabes in holding pools and telling them everything will be ok, to then shaft the lot and set them free without even an apology.

Lets put a cancelled interview in perspective.

Any idea how much is making a direct entry FO (with experience on type) and type of contracts are they offering at the moment?
