P2F again.
Yahoo! News UK & Ireland - Latest World News & UK News Headlines
"National minimum wage laws make it illegal not to pay people classed as workers." So how come this doesn't apply to P2F then? Or does it? |
I'm sure it does but the problem is no one has heard of p2f, paying for jobs outside of this industry. I tell my friends and they just stare at me speechless, like they can't even comprehend it.
It needs to be explained as a warning to the general population and the people who push it and partake in it exposed. |
Well, at some Formula 1 teams the drivers have to pay to drive.

Pay driver - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
This may be done to gain on-track experience or to live the lifestyle of a driver in a particular series when one's talent or credentials do not merit a paying ride. |
Not the same
Some truth in the racing car world but reality is bringing sposorship with you to fund the team. THIS IS NOT THE SAME AS PAYING TO FLY FARE PAYING PASSENGERS.
I very much doubt Vettel or Hamilton or even the most junior F1 driver would pay to take you around a track. |
A good few years ago I bumped into a young dutch lad who was paying Astraeus the princely sum of 25k for 500 hrs in a 757, he was required to fly a normal roster, weekends, night flights and to cover standby, all while being unpaid. Sadly while some consider it the only way to gain experience, the unscrupulous operator will continue to take advantage. The regulatory authorities seem unwilling to stop this gross abuse. Is it not time somebody in government grew some balls and legislated against what I perceive as a total injustice.

Saddest Aviator,
Have you considered meeting with your MP at his/her surgery and raising the issue? Or is it easier just to rant anonymously on a forum? |
Dear Artie,
Yes done a few years ago, sadly however the MP concerned did not see much mileage in the issue. A blind eye tends to be turned after all the success stories emanating from the LCC's these days. My MP only considers how to further his career after all:ugh: Hardly a rant dear fellow!!!! |
Honestly? You really went to your MP over the issue? Respect!
A much better course of action to those who simply employ the "Waldorf and Statler" tactics we so often see on pprune. |
Sadly Artie, a loud voice is only good if someone will listen, in my experience of nearly 30 years in this industry, we pilots are a bunch of selfish egotists who think ethical behaviour is something for lesser mortals. IMHO at least 70% of professional pilots think only of themselves not of the demise of our profession as a whole. I'm so tired of sticking my head above the parapet to no avail, little thanks from any of our fellow pilots anyhow. They are all big on words without the backbone to follow through! Look at the continual rants about RYR none of them have the balls to do anything and hence they get treated by their macho management just the way they deserve.

How common was p2f back in Astraeus? I might be chucking a few albums by a certain heavy metal band in the skip.
