Do excuse my dig in that case. I think regulator approval is effectively a given at this stage of the game.

I am 16 and looking to do my PPL when I am 17 as long as this does not compromise my BA application once I have my A level resiluts. Does anyone have the full story on what the maximum experience is for the scheme. I can find no definative answer to this so if anyone has any info I'd be very grateful. Thanks in anticpation.

If you're talking about applying for the FPP Scheme, there is a thread all about that in the Interview, Jobs & Sponsorship section. Ask your question there and you might have more luck...
A quick search of this page: British Airways Future Pilot Programme | Oxford Aviation Academy - OAA.com Suggests that flying experience is beneficial as long as you don't go getting yourself a CPL before you apply... Best of luck man. :ok: |
Anybody heard back from last weeks day one assessments?
|
Flying wild, nope not yet. Glad im not the only one still waiting!
|
Thanks to those that replied here and by PM

Has anyone got a good link to practice the verbal and numerical reasoning?
I am familiar with Aptitude Test, FREE Example Tests, Online Aptitude Tests, Psychometric Tests, Online Psychometric Tests - AssessmentDay.co.uk |
Hold Pool closed
Spoke to recruiting today to be told no more courses for at least a year. We can swim for 18 months and then have to reapply. Utter crock.
|
That's odd considering they just interviewed about 50 people last week, and during our Q&A session I am sure I heard them say they'd be pulling people around June onwards?
|
The BMI deal could have caused this. 300 pilots all joint at the bottom of the seniority list on the A320 doesn't look rosy does it?
|
Very true, but then they knew this was happening before last week. I know a few days is a long time in aviation. I guess all those who went last week's selection will get a no :*
|
The last I heard ( a couple of weeks ago) was no more recruitment until next year. However, those already in the hold pool would be taken for courses later this year, primarily on SH Airbus.
Impending BMI integration could have changed it. All BMI pilots will have to undergo a BA conversion course. However, the rise in the price of oil and the health of the business may have changed things still further. (Results out next week). |
...interesting! I suppose that doesn't bode well for me considering I am yet to attend day 1 assessment!
|
Well, if it's at least a year, I will have drowned as that's my 18 months done.
Shame I had to hand in my notice with my previous employer in order to apply! |

Unbelievable!! Chris what type are you??

The BMI deal could have caused this. 300 pilots all joint at the bottom of the seniority list on the A320 doesn't look rosy does it? The only possible reason I can see for 'no courses' is training capacity. Not sure where this rumour has come from as I certainly haven't heard it and I know that BA is still actively recruiting. |
Indeed Wirbelsturm - so what if for some reason the BMI deal has been stopped by the regulator. That would mess up the numbers wouldn't it? I m glued to the news ...
|
so what if for some reason the BMI deal has been stopped by the regulator. That would mess up the numbers wouldn't it? BA needs to replace pilots who are coming up for retirement. They need to fill the Airbus fleet as the pilots who are converting to the 787 and the 380 move off for their courses. Currently the 787 pilots are having to rotate for a minimum of 1 year through the 777 for currency thus emptying up the Airbus in both seats and the 380 TC courses start in Toulouse in the Autumn. Imagine BA as a 'block' then BMI as another 'block' attached. The requirements of the BA 'block' are relevant irrespective of whether the BMI 'block' is there or not. BMI only bring enough manpower to operate the aircraft they bring with them. No more, no less. |
That's harsh. Get an application in to jet2.
