Applied in august.
DEP recruitment closed yesterday.
As of today no feedback on my application.

BAP 19th September 2014 19:27

BA is currently talking about recruiting 250 Pilots next year.
And DEP recruitment for LH, namely the 747 is imminent. - Mainly due to issues with training capacity on the A320.

This is the latest from within. But as always, things can change.

Good luck

In excess of 250 actually. The actual number required is quite a lot more, in fact beyond the capacity of BA to absorb in a single training year.

Is this still the case after the recent DEP Airbus Type Rated recruitment and the managed military path scheme? Is it more likely that DEP will open for Non Type Rated people. Plenty of us flying for the regionals that would like the opportunity.

LH advert has just gone live. Who of the ex hold poolers are thinking this ain't as a clean cut decision as it was last time round??

It's a difficult one.

bex88 24th September 2014 20:04

our grass may look greener but our brown patches are just in different places. Its a fair job and I like many I am happy to be here but its not the utopia it once was.

I don't know about others, but being treated as a professional (which we all are) means an awful lot to me. At my last outfit we were treated like factory workers; your professional status meant nothing. At BA, at the moment, you are treated like a professional, and there is a respect shown to you in your operation, and there are, of course, expectations from the company as a result; which I'm quite happy to attain and maintain.

As I said, that may not mean much to others, but it means an awful lot to me. So despite all the shortcomings, I would never leave BA to go back to where I came from.

stevieboy330 26th September 2014 02:04

I'll be taking my 350 rating when CX pay for it in a couple of years & my ten years on the 330 & I'll be shopping around Europe without a seconds thought!

Threethirty 26th September 2014 07:58

What are the chances of BA ordering the 350? I think I've flown with you Steve.

ETOPS 26th September 2014 08:12

What are the chances of BA ordering the 350?
100% :ok:

Already ordered the 350-1000 with 18 in the initial batch.

bex88 26th September 2014 08:25

its also in this months flight ops news that the interior layout has been finalised so they are inbound to BA. IB are getting 350s too

Threethirty 26th September 2014 08:47

Sorry I knew they had ordered them, I had just read that there was some doubt as to whether they would be delivered. Thanks for clearing that up.

Latest feedback

Could anyone share their experience from a recent interview? Some feedback has got mixed in with the other thread.

BA day one tests?

Can anyone with recent experience of day one shed some light on the number and format of the tests. The practice pack seems to contain more than what has been described by some candidates. Is it numerical reasoning as per the technical examples sent eg standard mental arithmetic problems or a combination of those with the MGIB graduate charts and pies to interpolate etc. Also people mention a verbal reasoning test but the pack contains verbal reasoning and comprehension tests to try, are there two different tests?

All the best to those applying.

Callsign Kilo 14th November 2014 11:32

Harry,
When I did the tests in 2011, the numerical was purely mental arithmetic (25 questions in 12 minutes I think). Expect percentages, ratio, area, currency etc. Nothing taxing, just time pressured.

The verbal reasoning consisted of several obscure passages. There were a number of questions relating to each passage and you had to decide whether the answer was 'true, false or cannot say.' A little more time for this but more questions than in the numerical. From what I gather the current tests follow the same format.

BugSpeed 6th December 2014 12:35

Hi All,

This is the latest info I have regarding recruitment planning:

1) 311 pilots required next year of which the bulk will be DEP
2) Process is identical to previous years although now split over three not two days
3) Main recruitment is for A320; wide body experience preferred for Jumbo
4) Of the 311 spots, about 100 have been filled already
5) Next available course start dates are March at the earliest

Basically, if you are in the system but have yet to hear about getting through the CV sift, hang on. The backlog is simply overwhelming from what I can pick up.

Hope that helps!

Sim

Hi All,

Anybody got a sim-ride on 5th Jan?

Drop me a PM

Hiltonharry 8th December 2014 11:06

Hey bug speed

When did you manage to book a sim slot? I got the nod on Friday but there are no sim slots available when I got to book.

Cheers.
